    Dual Subs?

Thanks. I think I will try paralleling them off the one amp as Robert suggests. One question though. one other listing shows it to be a 4 ohm speaker so paralleling would crank it down to 2 ohms. Is that low for most sub amps? I have found that there is still a quantity of the drivers...

    Dual Subs?

About 10 years ago I bought 2 DBX 15 inch subwoofers from DAK surplus in Elay. They had a store in Canoga park that looked like a thrift store with remainders and slightly damaged wares. Some of the oldtimers here may remember DAK's mail order catalogs. BTW, DBX was an early competitor to...

    What may drive hirez acceptance...

Most here think that the availability of universal players is the key but perhaps it is the home theater in a box that may be the driving force. Even the very cheap systems are impressive. I saw a $99.00 surround system at my local drug store and was quite impressed with the sound one could get...

    connecting a second sub

I heard at one time that at about 6 feet they will couple as that is the optimum distance for the wave length out of the sub. When two subs couple it is supposed to be awsome. Myth? Could be wrong. Anyone know?

    Why does multichannel sound better

All comments appreciated. I don't mean to come off sounding naive. I've spent as much time, if not more!, listening to my system as I have listening to the music if you get my drift. This may be the unsung evil of our kind. It is interesting to know that this surround effect has been...

    Why does multichannel sound better

I've been a moderate hi-fi person for better than 40 years so I'm not new to the game but one thing has me puzzled, and I don't see very much about this in print. Since I recently went to a surround system I have noticed that all things being equal the sound is "better" in a surround system...

    Pioneer DV-563A Review

Someone here mentioned setting the dvd-a to multichannel. I've only found a setting for for dvd video or dvd audio. Is there a menu buried in the 563-a somewhere I haven't found yet? Also I am finding that video dvd's do not play at the same level as thjey did in my old machine. In fact it is...

    Pioneer DV-563A Review

I got the SACD playing on all channels by setting the options sacd to multi instead of the default 2 channel. I spent quite a bit of time fiddling with the settings as I was getting no center channel. Not having had the 6 channel output before this was a bit new to me. Once I set the Sacd...

    Pioneer DV-563A Review

I got mine a few days ago. Mostly interested in the music aspects as mt wife lacks the gene that causes one to appreciate the awsome significance of a 40 inch flat plasma screen. I'm looking for stem cell therapy to fix this defect but it seems like it will take a while. Meantime I am having to...
