When the original article, thread and photographs were done with "Mad World" the need for restoration was critical. The question on my mind is that if not restored, can what elements that do survive be *conserved* for later restoration if a studio decides to do so? Are we at the "now or never"...
Hello, From a transfer / widescreen enhanced point of view, which of Mr. Presley's movies have received good treatment and bad treatment? Any titles, in particular, to avoid? Thanks! Paul
Hello, It has been stated that many pre-1950's movies have been lost due to deterioration. This would lead me to think that some color and sound films have been lost. One example could be the original cut of "The Magnificent Ambersons", although, of couse, some footage does survive. Any...
Glad my wife gave me Mackenna's Gold DVD as a present some time ago. Also recorded the HD Widescreen version from HDNet on D-VHS. Don't like this "de-featuring" of movies.
Hello Robert, Thanks for the reply. My impression of the movie is that it is a bit "truer" to the lifestyle as well. Overall, bit more production "polish" than the AIP pictures. Huge Jan and Dean fan as well. Just to be sure: 16:9 enhanced? True stereo soundtrack by any chance? Paul
Excellent year end summary. With "King Kong" coming out next year (with any luck), no doubt Warner is working mightily to hold on to that number one position.
Ted, I think the Toshiba SD-5970 is a wretched player: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...hreadid=447994 Others have reported differently. Mike, I don't have a Sony LCD direct view only a Panasonic LCD direct view. Via the HDMI connection at 1080i, I think the Sony DVD-NS975V...
Hello, Macroblocking can depend upon the display, the material, and the display's calibration. There is a "survival kit" posting in the first post in AVS forum concerning how to address macroblocking. If seen, I think the best thing that can be done is critical adjustment of the display...
Everyone, You're welcome and thanks for the kind words! Maybe the AVS FAQ thread is a bit much but I've been waiting for this player since the introduction at CES. Just wanted to get as many questions answered as quickly as possible and have some fun. Hopefully, any Panasonic...
As for me, I like the open/close button on the remote so that I don't create any "wear spots" on the players buttons. The less I touch the player the less chance of scratching or creating wear. I use a URC-200 remote and program a key into it from my other XP50 remote. No problem at all...
Hello, While looking at the MGM site it is noticed that "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World" is "Currently Unavailable". http://www.mgm.com/title_title.do?title_star=ITSAMADM The deluxe version went out of print some time ago. Has the stripped down version gone out of print as well?
