Value of completed HT (when selling turn key)?

Got a contract on the house. The buyer dickered with me on price, so I said fine, I'll take less, but all the components come with me (except the projector and in-wall speakers). He said Ok, but I think he is completely unaware of what this stuff costs because he said he wanted a list of the...

Value of completed HT (when selling turn key)?

Again, thanks everyone for the feedback. Pat, I think your approach is better than the one I took which is to state that all equipment is included. I was thinking if someone said they weren't interested in the A/V stuff then I would negotiate it out, but much like Bill, I do not want to undo...

Value of completed HT (when selling turn key)?

Thanks again all for the feedback... very enlightening! Funny thing is, I am buying a home with a dedicated home theater, and I wouldn't have thought about buying a house that did not have one. Of course there is no equipment in the home I am buying...

Value of completed HT (when selling turn key)?

Thanks for all the replies guys. I guess I am learning that not everyone in the world wants a home theater... I am hoping to find a buyer who does want one, and who has at least walked into a good A/V store to realize what they are looking at... and doesn't have everything already... if all that...

    Distance to Outlet for Projector??

I had the good fortune to have my media room below an attic, which made this a very simple solution, put it about 12 feet from the screen in the attic attached to a roof support, and not cut any holes until I wired the PJ, when I did it was easy, I just ran a power cord to the outlet in the...

Value of completed HT (when selling turn key)?

I am selling my house and wanted to invite some feedback / opinions on what it might add to the value of the house to leave the room set up as-is. The room is a little over 14x19 by the way. The entire room has been painted a deep brown and there are full length velvet(?) curtains on front...

FS: Sony CRT Projector VPH 1270Q - DFW

A steal at $500. Includes mount and wireless remote. I have one in my media room, and love it. Slight blue tube 4x3 burn, tubes good for many more hours of use. No hour meter on these, check crtcinema(dot)com/sonyspecs(dot)html for more specs. Located in Dallas, Texas. First consideration...

Best Buy and SACD player ce775

I got one (demo unit off the shelf) after Christmas and paid 129, and I sprung for the 3 year optional warranty for $30 just in case... learned my lesson after the last DVD player I got there died after a year and a half. so far, so good (way impressed for the money). anyone know what they...

HTPC sync issue with CRT proj

I ran an extension cord for the PJ to the same outlet as the PC and it went away immediately. Funny thing is, I was just doing some testing with a temporary set up (I have three 1270's and was trying to figure out which one to bolt to the ceiling), and had factored this into the design of my...

HTPC sync issue with CRT proj

I am running a Sony 1270Q with a HTPC and am unable to completely get rid of some vertically scrolling horizontal stripes that vary in speed and number with various resolutions and timings (ranges from 'flicker' to a single line across the screen that takes approx 30 seconds to go from bottom to...

    SVS for live performances

Though I know you are looking for stories of people who have done this, and I haven't... I wanted to add that there is a new driver purpose made for PA bass, but it requires a specific horn built around it. It has been receiving _rave_ reviews and when used in pairs or quads is reported to...

Ceiling speakers for a 7.1 setup

Yes, you can install surrounds in the ceiling, try to orient them so they are not pointing at the main seating area (you want to be off axis for movies unless you use dipoles). Pay attention to the delay setup in your receiver to correctly compensate for distance.

    Primary music speakers, not fronts

You may want to take a look at Axiom speakers available via the web, or if you will consider building cabinets, look into the Adire Audio kits (their HE10.1 is oriented towards music systems). Both of these systems are very highly praised. Hope this helps.

    Reference CD's

I didn't see these mentioned above... Lyle Lovett - Joshua Judges Ruth Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Sessions Tool - Schizm (actually has _some_ dynamic range in a rock recording) Let me know what you think of them if they are new to you and you pick them up.

    Help me decide..Tumult vs HE15?

Is cost or size more of a consideration? And just out of curiosity, what the heck are you trying to reproduce? Either of the options you are talking about will produce more bass than most people could tolerate. It would seem that one of these enclosures would be more than enough...

Entry level Bookshelf speakers for newbie?

There have already been many good posts on this topic, but I wanted to add that you might benefit from looking toward what you think will be your ultimate or end state for your theater. Since the upgrade bug bites most of us more often than we plan, you may look at speakers that could...
