I have a 42" Sony rear projection LCD, almost 3 years old now. No issues yet & looks better then my friend's TV's, one has a 42" Samsung DLP & the other has a 43 or 44" LG RPLCD.
I don't think you're going to get much nuance love around these parts... If you can return them, you may want to think about it... just do a search for em....overpriced is what you'll likely find...
I have a zenith 318, the DVI was poor looking on my sony 42" gwIII. (maybe bad cable it comes with? but many posts about this). luckily I tried the component on 1080i, looked beautiful! so I'll save my dvi for HDTV later. Since you don't have DVI anyways, it's up to you if you have spare...
I think it's probably receiver-dependant. My HK AVR7200 seems to do a decent job of it, it has 3 settings, low, mid, & high (not the exact terms but you get the idea). I usually leave mine on the lowest setting (slightly lowers the really loud dynamic peaks of explosions & stuff) just...
When I got my KIT281p, the crossovers were already assembled. Only when I built my LCC did I have to solder the crossover components. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jeff.w...4e.jpg&.src=ph
Nice speakers! I almost bought a set, but after a comment from my g/f about making my own, I decided to go that route LOL. Anyways, I'm glad to see the comments above, I totally agree with all of them. As long as it's decent quality (flexable, nice casinng etc) & the AWG is large enough...
I actually just saw these in a magazine a few days ago..... It was either in STUFF or Blender..... I agree, crazy markup! People that do not know any better will likely jump all over them
Did you swap the speaker wire as well? Just wondering if something may be shorting at that connection, or maybe in that speaker, unless you tried that speaker on the other channels?... I agree though, there seems to be alot of posts regarding refurbed HK's with issues right out of the box...
Looks very nice man! I really like the trim rings! I built an LCC a few months ago (enclosure from acoustic-visions...I miss having a tablesaw), it's definately a great center channel.
I got some of my stuff online.... HK reciever - jr.com retail $1700 or so, got for $900 Kit281 & LCC - acoustic-visions.com zenith 318 dvd - gochnauers.com/ TV I got locally, asked for a better price, got a good discount..
Jim Mcc, I ordered mine over the phone from here: gochnauers.com I e-mailed them for the price I got....very happy with their service. I assume they just got a shipment in, so if it's like mine, should have a build date of '03..you may want to e-mail them & find out.
My flexy rack has 21" square shelves. 21" wide was just enough, but I only used 5/8" threaded rod. I had to make mine so deep because my HK7200 is deeper then normal. I like the hole idea for wire management! One thought I had when I saw that, what if you used large PVC pipe, painted...
Well, after alot of reading, & being stuck in a hotel for 3 days, I made a purchase, got the 318 shipped for $160 Build date of Dec 2003. I first thought the unit had the new firmware on it, but as I finally figured out, the unit can only be switched to 1080i when in stop...
Amazing! I'm currently in the process of building my LCC, I'll post once it's done, see how it sounds compared to my 281 ported towers... Keep up the great work!
I should have been more clear, sorry :) I do have a "surround" system going right now.... my other speakers are yet to be built (the Adire LCC & some Kit 8.1's for rears). My TV speakers are currently doing "center channel duty", & I have some temporary rears as well. You may have...
Hello guys, this is my first time asking a question here, mostly just read & try to learn as much as possible. Quick run-down of my system: TV: Sony 42" LCD kf-42we610 DVD: Sony DVP-NS725P Receiver: Harman Kardon AVR-7200 Speakers: Adire Kit281 ported towers I do not plan to...
I've read a bit through here the last few months, first time posting. I fortunately have recently had the experience of building a set of the KIT281 ported towers. I was a bit sceptical at first, just because the price ofthe kit, compared to what is out there in the retail stores. I was...
