Gary- Looks like you've got a pretty similar situation to mine. I'm just wondering if it's really worth the extra $ to go for the digital output cable just for playing MP3's. Is a digital connection really that important for a CD player? I'm under the impression that RCA is really just...
Xitel: http://www.xitel.com/index.htm Is it worth double the cost to get the pro Hi-Fi link with the digital output just to play MP3's? Also, if my system only has one optical and one coaxial digital input can I use both or is it normally just one or the other? Thanks, ToddAC

OK, I just hooked up my new HTIAB and my DVD's sound great, but the problem is nothing else does. I thought that If I put my stereo or TV into the reciever I'd get some nice 'psudo-surround' out of all 5 speakers and the Sub. Needless to say, I've been dissappointed. With audio from analog...
All of the Kenwoods are great (except the DVT-505), but where are you going without a DVD player? What good is great sound if you don't have anything to hear? The SONY 1700D covers all of the bases.
The Sony HT-1700D seems like the best deal to me. 80 Watts X 5 Channels, 100 watt powered sub, and a separate DVD player.
The speakers leave a bit to be desired, but what do you want for $500.
I think it the best deal for a system with a DVD.
