I was wondering this point myself, but I'm pretty sure in the case of the UK at least, releasing it a week later allows the cast and director to promote the movie there (not that it really needs it at this point). This would be backed up by the majority of the cast (except Gary Oldman) and Nolan...
Matthew, according to EzyDVD the 2-disc Vengeance is being released in R4 as part of a new Die Hard boxset on 7/7... will be interesting to see what the transfer looks like (most likely not great)!
A week ago I saw some filming a block away from my work in the CBD and there was a dude dressed in a SWAT uniform. I came back later that night and there were two SWAT vans with "Special Weapon Attack Team" written on the sides, and they had taped off the area around the entrance to the AXA...
I really never factor too much trust into any single review, but I like reading them after I see a particular movie. I may decide to watch something depending on good general buzz, but if it looks interesting to me I'll usually go and see it to form my own opinion about it.
I'm sure Wolverine would do much better than Elektra in terms of box office... whether it would be a better movie is another question. Let's hope they actually write a good script for it!
I just saw Elektra last night, and for the life of me can't figure out what the hell they thought they were doing. True, Daredevil made money, and most people hated it, but I'm sure even the ones that liked it weren't begging for an Elektra movie. (BTW I saw it for free, and certainly wouldn't...
Whoops I actually just remembered today that JB Hifi actually split into two separate stores in the city area (literally around the corner from each other), one for DVDs the other for CDs. Hope your friend manages to find it OK! It's not too hard to miss. I ended up paying a visit there...
Sounds like it was probably on Elizabeth St, may have even been JB Hifi (is only a block or two away from the GPO) - a yellow and black colour scheme on the outside, not very clean looking on the inside, but it's packed full of goodies. Next door is Video Collection, which tends to import...
If your friend is in Melbourne, I suggest shopping at JB Hifi, it's a CD/DVD store like our equivalent to Best Buy. A lot of DVD titles in general are ridiculously cheap, though we mostly tend to follow R1 releases by and large. As Andre said, there are a few R4 titles which have 16x9...
I don't feel special effects necessarily get less convincing over time, it just mostly depends on how you react upon your initial viewing. For me personally, something looks fake if the CGI doesn't look absolutely seamless, be it due to poor lighting, animation, etc. Special effects in...
Sorry no advice or suggestions, but I share your annoyance. I purchased the set on a trip to the U.S. and didn't realise one of the disc holders was broken until I opened it up back home. The good thing is I don't watch it that often. To make things even worse, it got released locally in region...
Here in Oz, saw it just a few hours ago. As a long time Spidey fan, I enjoyed the first movie but was annoyed by certain aspects (ie - crap Goblin costume). However, I can safely say Sam Raimi's nailed Spidey 2 REAL good.
I've listened to James Cameron's commentaries on Solaris and T2 and was thoroughly impressed with the way he imparts information. Looking forward to Aliens next... I'm sure I've heard a few stinkers - most disappointing would have to be Memento. As much as I wanted to like it, it was just...
The plastic trays were used for the region 4 Alien Quadrilogy set... kinda good, until the first 8 discs got separated from the last one! I had to add more sticky tape to hold it together.
Don't know if this is old news, but at the cinema I work at(here in Melbourne, Australia) we just put up a Volume 2 poster. It's the list of the names The Bride wrote in the plane, with a great big samurai sword pierced through it :)
Confirms that the Superbit line is nothing but a marketing gimmick (and a bad one at that). This release may have an improved video transfer, but it does indeed make the transfer on the previous release rather suspicious.
Dvdanswers.com and Dvdtimes.co.uk have added the covers of TWO new releases - the Deluxe Edition AND a Superbit! Boy does this seem like overkill... To add to the confusion Dvdtimes states the Superbit has an exclusive commentary with Toby Maguire (could be meant for the DE though).
You had me excited for a minute, Chuck! Thanks, but alas, it doesn't appear to be the one I saw (though it's still a good laugh anyway). Maybe I'm searching the wrong forum?
Hi guys, I remember once seeing a thread (not sure if it was in the HTF) with mock Criterion covers, and rolling in laughter at someone's design for a Kangaroo Jack: Criterion Collection cover. Does anyone have the link to that thread? I apologise if I've posted this in the wrong forum, I...
