just a thought JohnDG, My pioneer amp is set to output bass below 80hz via subwoofer, surely setting the subs crossover at 90 will not make any difference ? I was told to turn it fully clockwise to 120hz so that the crossover on the sub wasnt used..and just rely on the amp to output the 80hz...

Im a little confused by the 'bass level peak' setting on my pioneer vsx-859rds amp.
a test tones is output from the lfe channel , and using the volume up and down buttons you move the bass peak level from -80db to +12db. It says 'gradually increase the level of the lfe channel until the test...

Ling, The second plot (blue) was in the bottom left corner behind the listening position.
as for the room dimentions..The room is about 8 metres across from side wall to side wall. And about 10 meters from the window to back wall.
The listening position is about 1.5 meters from back wall...

Ned, Theres not many places i can put the sub on the left wall.just after the frount left speaker is the fire place..then my tarantula ! And then back to where it was (briefly) before..behind seating position..

Hi there, thanks for the replys...The tests were with sub and frount speakers. The graph shows corrected values.
The measurements were taken from the listning position.
Im not too sure if it sounds any better..i am having to use a basic phono cable as i dont have a lead long enough (10m)...
OK guys..moved sub to bottom left of room behind seating area, port at rear of sub pointing into corner.
I havnt altered the subs settings so it may be too loud as the sub is alot nearer to the listning position now.
What do you think now ? any better ?

OK, here is my room layout..the frount speakers are either side of the tv on stands, the subwoofer is behind the right speaker..but not obscured because of the stand..

also..am i right in thinking that when using the radio shack spl meter the subwoofer level is not correctly reported...
