I've had extensive experience with the Sony DVP-NS700P ($299) on several different monitors, and it kicks ass on all of them.

The short answer is no. I'll leave the long answer to someone more capable than me of answering it well, but the bottom line is that generally speaking, a $300 DVD player will not play CDs as well as a $300 dedicated CD player.

Kimmo, My store sells the Gallos and the Paradigms, and the Paradigms win every test hands down, and cost a lot less as well. With the Gallos, you're paying for looks.

Marty, It varies; I'm usually in the store on Wednesday afternoons; the rest changes and/or is install days. :)

Another major difference is that many players are 2-channel SACD players, while others play ful 6-channel SACDs.
