It does not play any type of PAL discs. I get an error message even with region free PAL. Bill, I have both the OPPO and the HD-A1 and I use the OPPO to play any PAL and region coded DVDs (I also have a Malata which upconverts and does a similar job), and I mainly use the HD-A1 for my HD...
Future Shop has this up for pre-order but man the price : $54.99!!!!!! I know this is too early, but I hope that the closer we get to the release date that the price drops to more realistic levels.
I've seen Universal catalog titles such as Seabiscuit, Red Dragon, Fast & the Furious 1 & 2, Fear & Loathing in Las Veags, The Rundown etc. drop to $27.99 CAD at most B&Ms. A lot of these had previous stickered prices of $32-$36 each. The Departed combo is on sale at BB and FS here in Canada...
I guess it was a spoiler of sorts, but I had already seen the film when I saw your sig, so it didn't spoil anything for me. I enjoyed the film immensely and was actually impressed when I saw you using that pic.
I already 'experienced' this film in the theatre and immediately wanted to watch it again. There is that scene which Tim Glover has been using as his signature, and it's one of the most memorable and moving moments in recent movie history that I can remember. _____________ HD DVDs...
I saw this in the theatre, good film and a good review. I will be picking up the HD DVD when it comes out on Tuesday. I read somewhere that the HD DVD has the same features of the 2 Disc version, I hope thats true. __________________________________________________...
I know that this might have been asked lots of times before, but is there any chance that Universal (even though they may be busy nowadays with HD DVD) will be giving us new OAR anamorphic transfers of Freidkin's Sorcerer and Eastwood's The Eiger Sanction? Good transfers on Standard Def DVD is...
Apollo 13 Pitch Black Chronicles of Riddick Land of The Dead Slither American Warewolf in London The Rundown The Mummy The Mummy Returns The Scorpion King Serenity U-571 Waterworld Dune 12 Monkeys The Thing End of Days Doom Van Helsing Bourne Supremacy Miami Vice King Kong...
Yes, thinpacks. Both versions of #1 come in one pack, 2 & 3 have their own cases and both Dominion and Beginning come together in one case. Only reason I may get this is because it takes up the space of about 2 regular DVDs.
I've had a chance to look at a set at a video store that got an early copy and was a bit dissapointed....the films are all repackaged, no new transfers. Even the old artwork is still there down to the double sided 25th Anniversary edition. Still I'd probably replace my old discs with this one...
As far as I can tell, it appears that the new Fox version does have newer chapter art and also a 'play all' button for the chapters. Both sets however, appears to have the same AR (not sure if it is 1:66 or 1:85....looks more like 1:78 to me...) and both are still non-anamorphic. I was hoping...
Would anyone know what are the differences, in content, between the previously released DVD and the new upcoming release from Fox (out on Aug. 1st.) I already bought the current release at Future Shop (on sale for 15.99 CAD), but now I'm wondering if this newer release is just a repackage or...
First DVD bought : Fifth Element (Dec.'97) $34.95 @ Rogers 2nd. & 3rd. were : Blade Runner & Das Boot (flipper) First DVD rented : Batman & Robin First player owned : Pioneer DV500 (Dec.'97) $695.00 !!
Every store I've gone to still has copies of 'The Island' on their shelves (Starstruck Ent., Future Shop, Best Buy, WalMart etc.). It appears that either : 1)The stores are obvilous/don't care about the error, as long as copies are being sold, then everything must be fine. 2)Dreamworks /...
I am tempted to order a copy from Amazon.ca because they sometimes sell the 'import' version in place of the domestic, and based on the specs, it could just be the U.S. version being sold. Update : I managed to return 'The Island' but when I got to Wal-Mart I saw they had dropped their price...
I'm not having a good day. First I find out that the Canadian Sin City Recut release does not have DTS on disc 1, and then I opened the copy of 'The Island' which I also picked up and.....surprise surprise....FRENCH 5.1, English 2.0 ! I have now decided (hoping they will take them back) to...
This modified/removal of DTS is apparently only on the Canadian release. I just looked up the title on Amazon and it appears that the Canadian version only has (under the Sin City title on the cover) 'Recut.Extended', plus it's billingual, while the U.S. release just has...
No, no mistake. Both the original cut (disc 1) and the extended cut (disc 2), neither has DTS ! The breakdown on each disc is as follows : Disc 1 : English 5.1, French 5.1, English 1.0 (commentary track 1), English 1.0 (commentary track 2) and finally English 5.1 (Austin audience reaction...
What I meant was that there is a store where I am able to rent legit R1 releases a week or so before the actual street date. However I was told (by one of the staff)that this may be an error in mastering and that the disc is being recalled. The back of the case did state that there was (or...
Nope! I just picked this up at Wal-Mart here in Scarborough...no DTS!! Now, I'm sure glad I never sold off my original version. BTW, I also checked the file size for the movie using DVD SHRINK : Original release : 6.8Gb (including all soundtracks) Recut Extended-Theatrical : 5.4Gb (including...
Okay, so I picked up a (pre-release) rental copy of 'The Island' (2005 version w/Ewan Mcgregor, Stock # 94777) at a Toronto shop and lo and behold....French 5.1 and English 2.0 ????!!! What gives ? I loved this movie when I saw it in the theatre and will want to purchase when it comes out...
Horror is about my most favorite genre and I've seen my share of scary moments in film. The scene described by one poster above from 'Exorcist III' still scares me even though I know it's coming. I've recently seen a Thai film called 'Shutter' which was really really freaky, but I don't...
Brad, the 602.5, 603, and 604s are NOT shielded. If yot have a direct view tv (as I do), you will have to place the speakers at LEAST 20" off to the sides. The LCR60 and 600 are both shielded. If you can afford the space though, these speakers are really great for both music and HT.
I've had the collectors edition for many years now and enjoy all the extra features (commentary, 'hamster' doc 86mins. long!, etc.), but since I upgraded my recevier from a DD only to a DD/DTS-ES, I have been looking to pick up some of those early DTS titles which I currently only own in DD...
I recently upgraded my HT speakers to all B&W 600 speakers, with 604 s3 as mains, lcr600 s3 as centre, 601 s3 as rears, and an asw650 sub. I believe that all the new 600 B&Ws are designed to match or compliment each other very closely. If you decide to go with 602s for the rear for music it...
