Your sightline of utilizing a 15" riser may be correct if you have the screen positioned rather low. My room is very close dimensionally to yours. 8 high, 21 long, almost 16 wide. My screen ( would have to look it up to be sure, or measure) is about 2.5 feet above the ground and am using a...
Just a f/u to this earlier thread.
I have Kevin Miller tentatively scheduled for the weekend around Apr. 5/6.
We could use 1 or 2 more calibrations to make this work.
Email me at [email protected] if you have any questions.

I wanted to see what interest there is in a Kansas City, MO ISF Calibration tour for mid-late January 2003.
I am in discussion with Kevin Miller, one of the founding members of The Imaging Science Foundation about this 3 day + calibration tour.
A link to him is at www.isftv.com

The height likely plays a part in the effects. My best recommendation would be to call up Acoustic Science Corporation at www.tubetrap.com (you can find their number there) and talk to Erik Veach. These guys are all acoustical engineers and can explain the details of this situation much better...
Your best acoustics will be obtained from a sheetrocked ceiling with resilient channels and wall dampening b/w the 2 layers of sheetrock. Ceiling Tiles are a poor value for the money IMHO.
I agree with Ross wholeheartedly. I did about 2 weeks of research before I decided on the setup I was going to use. Check all the acoustic companies on the internet if you are serious about sound proofing your room. There are many companies with different opinions. The route I took was with...
I would disagree with you guys on the need for insulation. The riser "acts" like a drum without any kind of dampening material. I used acoustic mat between my concrete floor and riser in addition to the cheapest R-11 insulation batts I could find. You will find this is the best way to go from...
Hi Guys!
Here is my concern:
I have to find some S video and component cables that will run approximately 40 feet.
I have my AV rack planned at the back of my media room with my projection TV at the front. This is temporary till I get my projector which would be in the rear, near the AV...
