Warner had financial interests in Hammer films such as DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE, FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED, TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA (they demanded Christopher Lee be in it when Hammer nearly wrote him out) and DRACULA A.D. 1972 (they suggested putting Dracula in modern times ala...

A spokeswoman got back to me regarding Universal's Halloween plans, and she let me know that there were no more new-to-DVD monster films planned for this year. Universal's Halloween schedule (slated for August) was made up of mostly VHS reissues.
I just wanted to mention that DERANGED is the Bob Clark film as it was originally released by AIP in 1974. I'm going to but "(1974)" next to it, so that everyone will know which version we're talking about.
A lot has been covered on this post, but here's just a few I haven't seen mentioned yet:
THE MUTATIONS (1974)
CORRUPTION (1968)
HAVE ROCKET WILL TRAVEL
THE THREE STOOGES GO AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAZE
THE OUTLAWS IC COMING
THE THREE STOOGES MEET HERCULES
THE THREES STOOGES IN ORBIT
Wow, Warner is really on the job with those 12 or 13 titles. Now Hopefully they'll consider the THOUSANDS of other titles they own like:
THE CAT PEOPLE
CURSE OF THE CAT PEOPLE
THE BODY SNATCHER
SON OF KONG
MIGHTY JOE YOUNG
ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN
FRANKENSTEIN 1970

"What is SCTV?" -- Now I feel really old. It's just about the best show of the last 25 years! I'm praying for these on DVD as well. May the good lord take a liking to ya and blow ya up reeeeal soon!
I think that FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS was announced by Warner in the Bizzaro World (an alternate universe) as part of Warner's ongoing "Midnite Classics" DVD series. Also in that batch is THEM, DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE, PHANTOM OF THE RUE MORGUE, HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS, FRANKENSTEIN...
I saw this in the theaters in '82, and watched it on TV and video about 50 times since! Great clips.
Amazing Collosal Man: "I don't want to grow anymore!!!"
Tommy Chong's reply: "Except maybe some hair."
I know how we can get Warner to release this classic for sure! Ask Roman Polanski to retitle it "Scooby Doo and The Fearless Vampire Killers," and Warner will be all over that baby!
Anybody here anything about the 70s TV horror classic coming to DVD? Universal holds the rights but are very stingy about putting series on the format. There's only 20 episodes, so one box set seems possible.
Jeff, thanks for answering my question. Your the second person who said the same thing, so I wanted to get another opinion from an expert like yourself.
I was mainly concerned with 1.85 films that show more information when they're shown in a standard TV format. But if that picture information...
It seems that a majority of American films of the past 30 years or so are released 1.85:1 when letterboxed on DVD. If a studio releases the DVDs like this, is that absolutely the way they were shot, rather than the "open matte" theory?
I can assure that this news is true. Didn't you see the quotes from the DVD producer? I have also been asking about the status of the rest of the Warner Hammers, but he has not gotten back to me yet. Last I heard, he was having a meeting with Warner on Thursday.

The REPULSION DVD seems to be taken from a 16mm PD print and looks pretty bad. FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS is being held in a DVD prison called Warner Home Video.
Curse of Frankenstein
Horror of Dracula
Dracula Has Risen From The Grave
Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed
From Beyond the Grave
Twins of Evil
Vampire Circus
Countess Dracula
Trog
When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth
One Million Years B.C.
Curse of the Werewolf
Brides of Dracula...
FAMKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL (c'mon Paramount!)
CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN
HORROR OF DRACULA
DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE
TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA (restored)
DRACULA A.D. 1972
FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED
REVENGE OF FRANKENSTEIN
WHEN DINOUSAURS RULED THE EARTH...
I'd also like to see Universal double up their Hammer horror films like they did on laserdisc. Titles include:
BRIDES OF DRACULA
CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF
NIGHT CREATURES
PHANTOM OF THE OPERA ('62)
EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN
PARANOIC
NIGHTMARE
They also own other 60s and 70s horrors like...
Jay,
That is a GREAT list! You're a man after my own heart. I agree with you about the 70s being the last fully GREAT decade of American and British cinema, and your list is pretty inclusive.
In terms of some of the titles: DEMONS OF THE MIND SE is due from Anchor Bay next year, and VAMPIRE...
The Midnite Movies are my favorite DVD series, and these things go for only $9.99 at Best Buy! How can you beat that? Great covers, great transfers, and best of all, really fun films and choice classics from the drive-in era.
Long live the Midnite Movies on DVD!

Anchor Bay only has rights to certain New World films made after around 1984. New Concorde has the ones made before that period and are putting them out on DVD (thankfully!) a few at a time.
