Why did you use drop ceiling tiles?
I would have drywalled it if I were you.
In our reference theater room we use Acoustic Science Corp's Iso-wall damp system along with drywall.
The resulting sound is vastly improved.
Of course on top of this we added Owens-Corning's ARS system.

Hi Ben,
You really should listen to as many processors as you can. They all sound different from one another and as such users preferences will vary from person to person.
Anthony
Hi CRyan,
I would first buy the best remote control your budget will allow for.
You can spend all the money in the world on a receiver, speakers, and dvd player but if it isn't easy to use your parents will not use it.
Anthony
Hi Michael,
I think many companies have realized how valuable a selling tool Lexicon had with their upgrade program.
ADA was one of those companies and will be implementing an upgrade program for their Cinema Rhapsody and Cinema Reference units.
I think the ADA program will work out better...
Hi Leroy,
You will need to run 16/4 speaker wire and Cat5E all of which must be fire rated to each volume control/keypad.
You may want to check out Integra's new line of receivers since they incorporate Russsound's A-Bus system in their DTR 8.2 receivers.
Anthony
Hi Randy,
We did this test amongst the general public. We did a random sampling of people (men and women) who would come into our retail store. Best pieces were under the same conditions (ie-acoustic treatment and speakers).
I'm not saying Lexicon is a mediocore piece. It's just that there...
Hi Ben,
In blind test studies we've done while trying out different companies processors most users have commented they prefer ADA's sound over Lexicon because it has a better depth to the soundstage and exhibits more warmth.
I strongly suggest you give the Cinema Rhapsody Mach II a try. I...
Hi Philip.
If you're willing to you can fly a couple of our staff members down we'll help you for a set fee.
We have 3 engineers on staff and we specialize in large scale a/v installations.
Otherwise I would recommend contacting several a/v firms near your area and look at their product...
Why don't you buy your movie posters.
They're not expensive. There's a place in Toronto called Movie Poster warehouse that sells the newest movie posts for $20 Cdn on average. I'm sure you have something similar setup in St.Louis.
Anyways the real expense would come with the framing of the...
Hi Ben,
You should audition's new pre-amp processors (Cinema Rhapsody, and Cinema Reference). I would say you would be very happy with the sound when paired up with an ADA amp.
The new processors have the usual stuff like DTS-ES, DTS-Neo, THX Surround EX, Pro-Logic II, etc.
ADA will also be...
Hi Paul,
The only magazine that I consider to be the best in quality for reviews and articles is Widescreen Review. They're one of the few magazines who has the cuts to point out flaws in equipment. We take their recommendations very seriously when we're looking for product lines for our...
Hi Lance,
1394 still has some major hurdles to climb before it even begins to be seen as a viable option.
Although the concept of it is an excellent idea: ie-plug and play I'm afraid it will be a long wait for all of us before it becomes an everyday thing.
One of the major hurdles it has to...
Hi Gregg,
As a dealer for Theo Kalomirakis we are allowed to sell 3 of Theo's custom designed theatres: The Apollo, The Royale, and The Savoy. The last one can be seen at Disney's Epcot Centre in Florida.
These theatres are expensive but worth it since they're using extensive room treatment...
Hi Jay,
I would suggest you take a look at Acoustic Science Corp's Iso-wall damp system. It works really well and we use them for all of our dedicated theater rooms along with showing it in our showroom.
www.tubetrap.com
There will be a link to the iso-wall damp system there.
Anthony
Hi Brian,
We're in the process of designing our website right now.
As for photos you'll probably see some of our jobs in some of the major American magazines within the coming months.
Anthony
Hello Herb,
Please note that I now have my own company. Yes it was true you were sold a Nakamichi AV-10 for your speakers. Please keep in mind I only became involved in your theater when it came to your M&K subwoofer.
Anthony
Hi Matt,
I may be biased but I'm a dealer for M&K and it is the ONLY speaker we sell. It's very easy to sell M&K because they sound so well and are used by many music and movie studios.
The 750 package is very popular and we pair them always with an Integra DTR 9.1 receiver.
I'm not too...
Hi John,
I don't know the user you are referring to. If he works in the industry chances are he's probably in retail. I don't know of too many custom shops on the level of ours.
Mississauga is a big city. It's outside Toronto (about a 20 minute drive away). The population is close to 600,000...
Hi Paul,
Having sold Martin-Logan before.
I would recommend a good pre-amp/processor combo because Martin-Logan's demand continuous power. A receiver will not be sufficient.
If you want to keep costs down you may want to consider ADA's 6 channel amp the PTM-6150 which retails for $3500 CDN...
Hello gentlemen,
I came on here because I often get frustrated when people give out wrong advice.
Not that there is nothing wrong with someone giving out their opinion but I'm hoping to help you guys out if you have any questions.
I've done over 200 installations so I think I'm pretty...
Hi Lisa,
I would recommend running 1 piece of CEBUS which houses 2 CAT5E, and 2 RG6 Quad Shielded Cable.
Why CEBUS.
The CAT5E (telephone wire) would be used for phone applications or if you have a satellite dish and need to order PPV program.
The RG6 (coaxial cable aka television cable)...
Hi Kyle,
For any homes we do, we recommend running CEBUS (2 Cat5E, 2 Quad-Shielded RG6). We also recommend running CAT5E for all of your phone lines.
For now we do not recommend fiber optic because of the lack of standards that are around.
Instead to future proof your home we would recommend...
Hi everyone.
I'm a new user.
I'm also the owner of a custom audio/video business.
We're dealers for ADA, Integra, M&K, Audioquest, Theo Kalomirakis, Owens-Corning, Acoustic Science Corporation, Runco, Stewart Filmscreen, and Vantage.
Please note, I don't sell to the public so I will not...
Hi Chris,
I just came back from the CEDIA show.
Marantz released 3 new remotes:
RC3200, RC5200, and RC9200.
My advice would be to wait until they come out since there have been some significant changes made to them.
Mostly more hard buttons, and nicer ergonomics.
Anthony
Hi Craig,
I was just back from the CEDIA show. I'm also a dealer for ADA. ADA has realized how valuable the upgrade program Lexicon has and will be implementing one also for their new Cinema Rhapsody Mach II probably by end of this year/early next year.
I think more and more companies will...
Hi BobL,
One of the best combinations I have personally heard was an M&K S150 Powered System with an ADA pre-amp processor that was using balanced outputs.
The reviews for M&K have been very good. The last one I read was by Perry Sun in Widescreen Review.
The advantages of using a powered...
Hi Perrin,
Marantz, Denon, Integra/Onyko all make good receivers.
Whenever we recommend receivers for our clients we always look for products that have upgradeability features built into them.
For example I would first look at whether the receiver will allow for some sort of hardware/software...
Hi I just wanted to say hi to everyone.
I'm an owner of a custom Audio/Video Shop.
We're dealers for ADA, M&K, Audioquest, Stewart Filmscreen, Runco, Integra, Vantage, Owens-Corning, Theo Kalomirakis, Acoustic Science Corporation, and the ISF.
My company doesn't deal with the general public...
