For video two Johnny Depp films (oddly enough): Sleepy Hollow From Hell For audio I like most of the bombastic stuff already mentioned but I do enjoy a good atmospheric soundtrack so I will have to go with Se7en.

Any Toshiba 34HF81 Owners Out There? Need Help!!

Andrew, I've had one of these sets since December and I love it. The correct picture size for anamorphic DVDs is FULL. For regular cable I use TheaterWide 1. It does introduce a bit of distortion at the sides but after an hour or two you won't notice it. Personally, I hate the grey bars using...

Toshiba 34HF81and SD3750 arrived last weekend. First impressions.

Steve, I ordered my Avia disc online from HMV. I just checked and they have it listed. It is a bit pricey at $81.99 CDN but well worth it. Dave, Email me and perhaps we can set something up over Christmas.

    Final Fantasy

I liked this film a lot but then I don't mind films that move at a more stately pace than the usual Hollywood action flick.

Toshiba 34HF81and SD3750 arrived last weekend. First impressions.

WOW :D :D :D I LOVE this set-up. Now that I've got that off my chest I'll try to be a little more objective. The TV and DVD player are upgrades from a very nice Samsung Tantus 27" flat screen SDTV and the Panasonic DVD-RV80 so in one step I've made the leap to a High Def ready TV and...

What is a good HT receiver that is also good at 2 channel stereo?

I'm using a NAD T751. I based my choice on the sound for two channel music. NAD takes the approach that if it sounds good with music it will sound good with film soundtracks. This works for me.

Which progressive scan DVD player should i get?

I just got a Toshiba SD3750 yesterday and so far it looks great. I will be able to give a better review in a few days as I also got a Toshiba 34HF81 TV yeterday and I am still in tweak mode. However, after spending many hours connecting and setting things up I put on The Fifth Element just check...

Pre-ordering new release DVD's in Canada?

If you are willing to come into the city you might give Bay Street Video a call. They are on Bay just south of Bloor. They have the largest collection of DVDs in Toronto and I believe that they will reserve copies. The number is 416-964-9088.

    Speaker Placement

I too have a similar situation. When I first setup I had the speakers on stands blasting across the couch. This was fine when I was alone in the sweet spot but not so great with guests as whoever was on the end of the couch was overwelmed by the closest surround. I then tried a suggestion I...

    Small upgrade, big difference!!!

I bought myself a set of new front speakers yesterday and what a difference they make. First though, let me give you some background. When I was bitten by the HT bug about a year ago I'm afraid that I did some purchasing without doing much research (not like me usually). I decided that all I...

No R&R HIgh School in Canada?

I've been looking to get a copy of the re-release of Rock and Roll High School for the last week. All I get is blank looks from the B&M people I have asked (in downtown Toronto) and neither HMV or Futureshop have it listed. What gives? No Gabba Gabba Hey for the Great White North John
