Lumet award: Warner, please release 'Prince Of The City'

Thought I'd bump this thread, since this supposedly is out now. Is anyone having trouble finding this in stores? I checked BB, CC, and Borders in my area and none have it. They all list it as special order. What gives? Is there no love for this movie? Does anyone know what happened to this release?

    Missing Warners Titles

Someone mentioned Prince of the City earlier in this thread. It's a shame this has been forgotten over the years because I think it's one of the best police corruption films ever made. Very underrated. Where is the love for this one? I thought Warner in one of the chats mentioned they were in...

DVD Review HTF Review: Persona - Special Edition

There are at least 2 shots in Persona that seem to be zoomed in too much. The first is in the beginning right after the credits. the blackness under the door should appear first, then the rest of the picture as it fades in. This is not seen in the new version. The bottom of the door is not...

DVD Review HTF Review: Scarface: Anniversary Edition

I have to agree about the sound on this DVD. It sounds exactly like my widescreeen VHS. But I'm a little confused. Was this movie ever in stereo surround to begin with? The end credits do not have the usual Dolby logo at all and say nothing about the sound system used. I had read somewhere...

Merged Thread: Who Framed Roger Rabbit Problems

Does anyone have an audio problem playing back any of the shorts on Disc 1? On one of them (either Rollercoaster or Trail, I forget now which one but it wasn't Tummy) when I tried it on my Sony 560D (which has never had problems and is used a lot) all of the audio switched to the extreme left...

    DC Area theaters

Definitely The Uptown Theater in NW DC on Connecticut Ave. Best theater in the area. Nice HUGE screen and terrific sound. Was built in the 30's, I think, but was renovated in 1996 for the re-release of Vertigo. The Two Towers just rocked in this place.

Super 35 - Why just in last 20 or so years?

I was just wondering. So many movies filmed in this format have been coming out. I understand that this method has been around since the 50's and went under the name of Superscope 235 or something. I think what I'm wondering is, why have directors started using it recently and not as much as...

*** Official E.T. Discussion Thread *2 Disk Set Includes Original Version of the Film!

It's missing on the 2-disc. I just watched my VHS from 1988 and it is there. I think the 70mm element was used. I remember reading somewhere that when they transferred soundtracks in those days to tape, they took them from the 35mm versions, which were known to be different in most cases than...

LAWRENCE OF ARABIA at NYC's Ziegfeld Theater in September!

I missed this in the theater the last time it came around in 1989. Does anyone by any chance know if this will be playing in the Washington, DC area? I saw 2001 in 70MM at the Uptown and was simply amazed.

    2.0 soundtracks

That's true. The intent is to present it seperately. But is there an example in which the 2.0 version is actually the downmixed version, just presented separately so that the player doesn't have to? Because if there is, I would be wary of original sound mixes on a disc when it isn't, really. I...

    2.0 soundtracks

Hi, everyone. 1st time poster but longtime reader. I'm somewhat confused by the whole original soundtrack vs. 5.1 remix debate. Many DVD's, particularly those by Paramount and Columbia, have both 2.0 and 5.1 soundtracks. What is confusing is trying to figure out, on older movies before around...
