Yes, I think they've decided to shelve it and release it with Brad Bird's new Pixar film "The Invincibles", which doesn't come out until November 2004. :frowning:
Anyone find any easter eggs? I couldn't find any the easy way. Also, the DVD-ROM content is nothing but weblinks according to the review at DVDFile. If ANY disc ever needed exclusive content, it's this one.
IV - The Voyage Home, is the one with the whales. V - The Final Frontier is the one Shatner directed, with the central plot being about finding God. *cough* VI - The Undiscovered Country is about negotiating a peace treaty with the Klingons, and is the second best of the series. I think we all...
I've been looking for Trinity And Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie, and I've only found P&S versions. It's possible that this was how it was shot, since it's a documentary and most of the bomb footage is 16MM anyway, but I just want to make sure that this is the way it's meant to be seen. Anyone...
The WOW trailer was quite possibly the best ten minutes of my life. I'd kill to have a copy for myself. KILL I TELL YOU. Or pay money. But I'd rather kill.
Future Shop has had all the extras so far, I doubt that Season 4 will be any different. It should be somewhere between $120-$135Cdn. I'd say this one will be worth the extra money. The Season 3 bonus sure wasn't.
I believe that the third season was chosen because of its unique structure, with four four episode arcs. It made each disc almost stand alone. We have to assume ADV bought the rights to test the waters for seasons 1, 2, and 4. I haven't seen any sales numbers, but based on how hard it is to find...
It's no surprise that the internet retailers are showing a majority of sales going to the OAR version. The real battle is against Wal-mart and the like. Thanks to the misleading packaging, I'm sure the POS version is outselling the OAR 10:1.
Nearly everything said in this thread is pure speculation without word from Chris Columbus or the DOP of the film. Only they can say which version they prefer. I'd say it's just another example of a filmmaker who knows that there WILL be a pan & scan version whether he likes it or not, and would...
I decided to wait until they make Ultimate Editions for all of them, or at least 1 and 2 since the third one is already excellent quality. They turned me off with all this nonsense, plus the DTS versions don't have all of the extras. Nuts to that.
I just checked Future Shop's website, and it shows the normal version coming out today, and the SE coming out next week. Maybe they delayed the Quebec street date.
What are the odds of getting a decent video collection? I couldn't justify paying $20 more for the Immortal version of Highlander for three videos and a CD single.
Marc, how did you make a contact at Alliance? Did you call them directly? Their website was a joke and is currently non-existant, and my email to them went unanswered. Incidentally, the Future Shop website shows this as 1.33:1. Now, they screwed up the Trees Lounge aspect ratio in the other...
I heard second hand from one of the show's directors (not Stephen Hopkins) that they plan to release the DVD after F/X does a 24 marathon soon after the final episode. So it shouldn't be too long a wait.
As far as reversible English/French packaging goes, it's for the point of sale, not for the end user. They'd have to either ship a percentage of them with the french side showing, or the french retailers would have to open up every copy and reverse the packaging manually. I still think new way...
If the Canadian version is P&S, this will be the last straw. I will go to the Alliance offices and have words with someone. I'm sick of the shabby treatment great films have been given.
I will not injure anyone. I will not injure anyone. I will not injure anyone. I will not injure anyone.
Mike, did you notice if any of the extras were included on it? Like the commentary or the music videos? And does anyone know if either the new one or the old one had a french track? I have a feeling that the new version may be for the canadian market, which forced them to add a french track.
So has anyone physically checked out this new version? Artisan/Alliance has screwed up the packaging before, but it just boggles my mind that they would have screwed us over so royally yet again, especially when the older version HAS all the extras. Maybe I'll try to convince the peons at FS to...
I looked at this today at Future shop and had the same reaction, but when I looked at the graphic with the full frame/anamorphic comparison, it clearly said, "This film is presented in Full Frame, which is the intended aspect ratio." Maybe Buscemi pulled a Kubrick and shot it with the intention...
I decided to bump this thread. We need a SE of The Truman Show. This is a film that will be considered a classic decades from now. It deserves the special edition treatment. Anyone from Paramount, pop this in and watch it again and tell me it doesn't deserve better treatment.
