Tom's Hardware: HD DVD wins, Blu-Ray loses!

This thread topic is quite misleading. Tom's Hardware did not make this statement, some unaffilated analyst did. In addition it was 100% speculation (and not very insightful speculation at that). I honestly don't care which format ends up on top, and if individuals want to latch on to one or...

    Sony 60XBR2

Um...SXRD is the technology used in the XBR2. SXRD=Technology (LCoS) XBR2=Model I purchased the 60" from Ultimate Electronics and have been very pleased with it. Does CC's warranty cover bulb replacement? Keep in mind that the XBR2's come with an extra bulb. I wouldn't recommend purchasing...

Buying a TV in this day and age...

I had the JVC 61FH97 and returned it in favor of the the Sony KDS-R60XBR2. I was hoping not to have to pay the $700 premium for the Sony, but it won out in the end. The JVC is a fantastic display, don't get me wrong, but it had a few issues that I did not want to live with. The first being...

    Thoughts on Sony KV32HS420?

While I can't comment specifically on the 32 inch, I do have the KV34HS420 and have been very happy with it. I just used the THX calibrator (don't have VE or AVIA disc) and was able to dial in a pretty good image for DVD and HDTV viewing.

Look out Divx round two may be near!

While walking through my local shopping mall this weekend I was approached by a gal doing marketing research (there is a marketing research business in the mall). She asked me my age and if I owned a DVD player. She then proceeded to lead me to their offices (in the mall) in order for me to view...

Bad news for Better Off Dead availability?

While I'm receiving copies of both Top Secret! and Better off Dead from DVDPlanet, I did notice that they are already out of stock of BoD, which could indicate a very low availablity of the disc in general.

Just read some very interesting info regarding Legend over at TheDigitalBits. Here's a cut and paste from their site:

Phantom Menace is OUT (part 2)

Chad, Jake (and Susan) I too made a quick run over to check out Susan's claim. Since I only work a few miles from there it was no biggie. No luck. They don't have them on the shelf. I asked the gal at the counter and she stated they don't have it yet, and (get this) it won't be out till the...

Movies leaving you thinking, "What the hell just happened?!"

Jeepers Creepers. I kept waiting for this movie to get started and suddenly one of the main characters was dead...the end. What? My two friends and I looked at each other and said, literally - "what the hell just happened?" [Edited last by Brian Olson on September 24, 2001 at 11:05 AM]

    Heathers: Special Edition?

Just picked this up last night at my local "break street date" retailer. It is indeed limited to 15,000 copies. The yearbook think is ok, just a booklet with a bunch of shots from the movie (I think). But the best part...it comes with a plastic ruler! You know, that little 6 inch plastic...

    Hidden Fortress: Subtitles

When I saw the term "shitworm" while watching Hidden Fortress, I immediately thought of the term maggot since that's a true shitworm. Perhaps that would have been a better translation (don't know for sure since I can't understand Japanese).

    What's with The Neverending Story?

The Fugitive was one of the very first DVD's to hit the market, and it showed. It was in need of a re-release. Twister was part of a 5 disk agreement WB had with DTS (Twister, Lethal Weapon 1, 2, 3, and Interview with a Vampire). That's why it was re-released. I wouldn't expect a new version...

Pleasant surprise after buying the Offical (Sony) PS2 remote

I just bought the new PS2 remote released by Sony for use with the PS2. By far the best available for the PS2, most of the third-party remotes don't function very well (from reviews I've read). Anyways, the pleasant surprise was that my existing remote for my Sony S530 also works (flawlessly)...

    Wolfen?

I made a silly mistake when I bought The Howling last week. I thought it was Wolfen. :) It's been many years since I've seen either of these movies so I mixed them up in my head. Anyways, does anyone know if Wolfen will be making its way to DVD? -Brian
