Anyone know in-store Klipsch mark up?

OK, 1 more time. If an item sells for $1.00 and it costs $0.50, that is 50% margin. It is not a 100% profit. If any of these stores could make even a 5% profit on gross sales, share holders would rejoice!

Anyone know in-store Klipsch mark up?

Well Mike, you kinda got it. If the speakers cost $1000 and they're tagged at $2000, thats a 50% margin. Fairly standard in the industry. IMO, Thats the dumbest marketing I have ever seen. Lets go ahead and let the buying public know we are making $500 in margin on you after the 25% off sale...

What would be a good center speaker?

IMO, the only good center is one identical to your front left and right speakers.

    integrated amplifier vs power amplifier?

A stepped attenuator will surely sound better than a software volume control. Digital attenuation is pretty far down the food chain. A pre amp or integrated with an alps pot or latter attenuator is what I'd be looking for. My vote is for the integrated. Whats your budget? What other...

    Need advice on stereo pre-amp

I mentioned that piece in my 1st post but doubt you'll find one in the "around $100 but I can probably bump that up to $200 if I have to" price range.

    Need advice on stereo pre-amp

Your dvd player will decode DD and output 2.0 with analog interconnects or you could select the DD 2.0 track from the DVD. You can get a sub hooked up in their. Use line level preout to the sub (powered with crossover built-in) and get those highpass filters from the link I posted above. I...

    Need advice on stereo pre-amp

A good stereo preamp for $100 is next to impossible. And with a sub-out, forget about it. I only know of one 2 channel preamp with an internal analog crossover and it's the B&K. You should buy a powered sub with a built in low-pass crossover, maybe a used older Adcom pre-amp and use a passive...

    Pioneer DV434

Your TV is processing the video signal. You may want to look at a new display device as your next upgrade path.

    Pioneer DV434

Display devices are sometimes tough to figure out. I believe the Sonys display 480p and 1080i native. My Hitachi 57" swx20b only does 540p or 1080i so everything it's sent (unless its a HD feed @ 1080i) is upconverted. Your Sony could be displaying 480p on all 480 sources (progressive or...

    Pioneer DV434

The 434 is NOT true progressive scan player. It's more like a line doubler. It doesn't have a film mode to do the 3/2 pulldown and doesn't even use any motion adaptive deinterlacing. Im assuming that if you cant see any differences between the 434 and a decent player, your TV is doing the...
