Just a word of advice - stay away from the RCA kit that they sell at Circuit City and WalMart (among other places).
It works okay but it's one of those IR receivers that's VERY sensitive about the angle your pointing from. My wife and I have our TV sitting on an armoire (too lazy to check...
I really enjoyed Godfather and Godfather 2. Having never seen Godfather 3, I can't comment on it, but it WAS nominated for Best Picture in 1990 (http://www.oscars.org/awards_db/index.html)- but probably just because the first 2 won best picture in 1972 and 1974.
The movies are each around 3...
Okay, fair enough.
Maybe I'll give it another try. I was planning on taking it back to BB today and telling them that it was defective and that I had heard a lot of people had problems with this disc (like Opera) so I could get my $$$ back.
I will admit that for a 24 year old movie, the colors...
Sam - thanks for the reply, but am I the only one that feels the movie didn't even remotely make any sense?
I mean...
Spoiler:
The plot revolves around Suzy realizing she's going to a dance school run by a bunch of witches. So what?
Why didn't she just leave? What compelled her to go down to...
I have a question.
I just bought Suspiria at BB last week. I had never seen it before but was impressed with the nearly universal raves for this movie.
It sucked.
Did I miss something?
It wasn't scary, suspenseful, or even remotely interesting.
Shade - It sounds like you have a similar problem that my neighbor had. He has Dish, I have DirecTV. In the Winter of '99 we had a hellacious ice storm that split trees all around us like toothpicks. One knocked his sat dish off the post (fortunately, it didn't hit his house) so we put it back...
I'm glad it's not just me.
But I sure as hell ain't gonna call tech support. Last time I called (2 weeks ago) to ask why I wan't getting Dolby Digital from HBO, they didn't have a clue what I was talking about - I'm sure this would be no different.

Is anyone else having audio probs on HBO on DirecTV lately?
Ever since DirecTV started passing the Dolby Digital signal on HBO, I've had problems with audio. Sometimes the audio will cut in and out every few minutes, other times it seems like it will do it SEVERAL times a minute.
Last night...
I'll second Robert_J's sentiments. It's really fairly easy to drop a new coax line. I just did it a few weeks ago (ran two coax lines (one input, one output), 4 speaker wires and a phone line down a wall.
Besides, from everything I've heard about these free installation deals, you could...
I haven't noticed the problem on mine. I have the Sony SAT-A55 ( I think...) DD receiver. I have noticed that audio cuts out for about a second every few minutes on HBO now, though...must be because of Dolby Digital coming through now.

Jon_B - where can I get instructions and parts list for a flexi-rack? Yours looks great, by the way.
I need to build one to hold all my components and set a 32" TV on top.
The bastards.
I just got off the phone with DirecTV/Pegasus technical support. As I expected, they had no idea what I was talking about when I asked them why I wasn't getting the HBO DD5.1 signal.
Oh well....why didn't I buy the cheap-o DirecTV receiver?
I notice that there's a Tweeter in your town. Hi-Fi Buys here in Georgia is a subsidiary of Tweeter and they carry Boston Acoustics. You can probably get an audition there (but you probably already knew that).
I have VRS Micro's for the rear surrounds. I don't think I'm too crazy about the...
I have mine running off of the B channel from my Yamaha RX-V596. The only thing I miss is an outside subwoofer!
I have a couple of Bose 501 (I think that's the model). Can't remember the price but I want to say it was around $250-300 about 2 years ago.
They're okay. I'm sure you could do...
NickSP- according to the above link:
"Dolby Laboratories is proud to announce that HBO's primary channel will debut programming in Dolby Digital 5.1 with the pay network premiere of The Perfect Storm. "
So, it looks like no HBO Signature or any of that stuff...
It's not bad - but IMHO, it's expensive.
I get basic plus HBO, Local Channels and the Family pack (SoapNet for my wife) and my bills are just over $60 a month. I think that's a rip-off.
The picture's okay. You can definitely see pixalation, especially when there's a lot of movement (ocean...
HBO begins broadcasting select movies in Dolby Digital 5.1 beginning Saturday July 14.

Yes, I know this is the hardware forum but this means that you'll have to upgrade to a Dolby Digital cable/DBS receiver to benefit from this. Luckily, I had...
