Todd, when you do order your mac, do yourself a favour and get at least 512mb of ram. The easiest way to have a poor experience with OS X is to use it with less than 512mb. It's not a pricy upgrade, I think Apple even dropped the price in the last couple of weeks.

IE might be resizing the images (poorly!) when the page loads. I think there's a setting in the preferences --> advanced to turn this off. It's probably a good idea to download the latest drivers for your video card, if you haven't already done that.

Acrobat is bunk. PDFs are not bunk. PDFs are a dream in OS X, reading & creation are native to the OS. Any application can save to PDF as easily as printing. Sweet!

Check out Tag & Rename . You can rename files based on their tags, tag files based on their names (v1 & v2) & pretty much anything else you need to do with tags. There's a free 30-day trial, I think the shareware price is only 30$ though.

You've got it. Still pictures from any camcorder will be inferior to pics from even the cheapest digital camera. A $400 camera will blow any camcorder stills out of the water.
