Hi, thanks for this contest, that sounds like a great device. I plan to hook it up in to my modest living room setup so the entire family can enjoy high-quality audio from our various devices. We love having a wide variety of music on while we all play together. It really livens up the Lego...
I have 2 of these drive cases . Got one on Ebay (from a place in Victoria) & found one locally. I got 160GB western dgitial hard drives (7200rpm, 8mb cache) when they went on sale locally and bob's yer uncle. FW and USB2 connections, no noisy fans, drives work great. Cost me about CDN$60 for...
Repairing permissions was a good tip, you don't even have to boot off the disc to do it. It's already in your "Applications --> Utilities" folder. What make of printer is it? Using the latest driver from the manufacturer's website is a good idea, too. Good luck!
Quicktime certainly supports MPEG-4, so it sounds like you're just missing a certain codec. When the file is playing in Quicktime, you can choose "Show Movie Info" from the Window menu and it will tell you the video format. You should then be able to download the appropriate codec (I'm...
Thanks for the reply, Joe. I should've mentioned that I made a new backup copy of the disc & had no success. Maybe I'll try making a totally different bootable CD through Nero to see if it will be recognized at boot time. Cheers,
Hi all, My old computer won't boot from my Windows 2000 CD anymore. I've set the boot sequence in the BIOS, but it just doesn't find the boot record on the disc. I get the message SEARCHING FOR BOOT RECORD FROM CD-ROM...... NOT FOUND and then it continues to boot normally from the hard...
Todd, when you do order your mac, do yourself a favour and get at least 512mb of ram. The easiest way to have a poor experience with OS X is to use it with less than 512mb. It's not a pricy upgrade, I think Apple even dropped the price in the last couple of weeks.
A quick warning from my experience. Run, don't walk away from HP. They have the worst drivers ever written. My parents had a PSC750 all-in-one that needed to be re-installed pretty much every time it was (attempted to be) used. This is on windows 2000 as well as Mac OSX. I had an old HP...
S-video to composite adapters are easy to find at Radio Shack or places like that. I haven't seem many cards that have an actual composite out (without a breakout box).
Hmm.. You might want to try using the PC's name instead of its IP address in the "Connect to Server" box on the Mac. The PC's name is specified in its "Network Identification" tab. My window looks like this: Also, are you using a firewall on either machine? I run ZoneAlarm on my PC &...
Hi Ari, Here's what I've done to get my PC (win2k) & my powerbook to play nicely together. On the mac, open up Applications --> Utilities --> Directory Access. Make sure that SMB is enabled, then with SMB selected, click the 'Configure' button. In the window that pops up, enter the name...
Good explanation, Scott! Let me add a couple points: When they were enforcing the more draconian version of the rule, not only would they disallow the goal if any part of a foot/toe/skate/lace was in the crease, they would actually give you a minor penalty as well. I was glad when they changed...
A couple things to check: 1 - Make sure both computers are in the same workgroup. Sounds like they probably are, if you can see the server's name in windows explorer. 2- Create an identical user account on the client machine to the one on the server. Log in under this user & you shouldn't...
Sounds nice, Steve. Do you have a spoiler? I think the red sedans look pretty sharp with it! Mine's a Winning Blue Mica 5dr (I guess the term hatchback is no longer). We got everything except leather & auto, plus window tint. Splurged on the factory MP3 player, too - it's great to have a ton...
The first thing to try is to repair your disk permissions. Applications --> Utilities --> Disk Utility, then select your drive in the pane on the left. Hit the 'Repair Disk Permissions' button & let it rip. If it looks like it's correcting a lot of problems, you might want to restart the...
Ha, I just learned something about my new car! I got a Mazda 3 Sport GT earlier this summer, and I'd totally forgotten about the tire pressure monitoring system. Thanks Steve! '04 is the first year for this model, but I'm confident in Mazda's engineering that it will be as trouble-free as can...
IE might be resizing the images (poorly!) when the page loads. I think there's a setting in the preferences --> advanced to turn this off. It's probably a good idea to download the latest drivers for your video card, if you haven't already done that.
Acrobat is bunk. PDFs are not bunk. PDFs are a dream in OS X, reading & creation are native to the OS. Any application can save to PDF as easily as printing. Sweet!
Check out Tag & Rename . You can rename files based on their tags, tag files based on their names (v1 & v2) & pretty much anything else you need to do with tags. There's a free 30-day trial, I think the shareware price is only 30$ though.
You've got it. Still pictures from any camcorder will be inferior to pics from even the cheapest digital camera. A $400 camera will blow any camcorder stills out of the water.
The Opturas are really nice cameras. I have the Optura Pi, it's a few years old now, but still an excellent miniDV cam. With the optura line, you get more high-end features (optical image stabilzer, larger LCD screen, manual control of white balance/exposure, etc) than you do with the ZR series...
