This sounds exactly like the infamous Sony flicker caused by defective CRT's. In the case of Sony the impregnated cathode detached causing fluctuations in the grid voltage. This caused the grayscale to flicker green or red depending on which CRT was defective.
Hey only two days until Gregg does his thing with my new Sony KP-65WV700. I wasn't expecting to have the set ISF'd for about a year. I figured it would take that long for a quality ISF tech to come to Vegas. Looking forward to the experience Gregg!
I have the KP-65WV700 and the stability of convergence is amazing. I did two very slight touch-ups of convergence in the first week. In the last 1.5 weeks no convergence necessary. Something must be wrong with the set.
Gil, I have not been able to compare this set with any other new models. The only comparisons I can make are from memory of at home viewing of several of last years models. I have not seen last years Sony models at home either. In fact I bought the WV700 sight unseen. When I did see the...
According to Sony the WV700 additions are double anti-reflective protective screen, Uniform Brightness Screen, Archromatic HD Microfocus Lenses.
The part numbers would need to be checked to verify these additions.

Steve, There are many workarounds to fit a large speaker on top. The top of the screen bezel is 3.3" deep. The bezel is .75" above the top of the MDF cabinet which extends back another 8" deep. So all that needs to be done is to raise the back of the speaker .75" to have a level platform...
The first thing I noticed was the cabinet. The silver plastic below the screen really stands out in the showroom but in my darkened living room no problem.
In fact the base matches the wall behind the screen to give what Sony calls the "floating screen" effect. ;)
Really, I am adjusting to...
There aren't many differences.
The WV700 has a better screen.

I am expecting delivery of a KP-65WV700 on Tuesday.
I had a problem with vibration on a plastic Sony RPTV cabinet. It vibrated where the back joined the sides. I pushed the set back to about 1.5" from the wall and stuffed a tennis ball between the wall and the plastic back.
I don't have any problem with anybody replacing Jim Morrison on vocals.
I saw the Doors in '69 at the Long Beach Auditorium and Jim was so drunk that he could barely sing.
It was still a good concert as there are three great musicians in the band with immense talent.
I have The Doors...
It looks like this series is starting to resemble the old Invaders series from the '60's. The Invaders! In color! A Quinn Martin Production! In the Invaders the aliens took human form but their pinky stuck out to give them away. I can dig that. Excuse my flashback, they sneak up on me every...
Lee, I have the SM-155's 15" woofer, (2)4.5" mids and 1" polycell tweeter. Great speakers for loud, ballsy rock at 102db sensitivity. Are your SM-255's similar? If so we need to find you the matching SM-Video Center.
I had a problem with disc 2 freezing on a scuff mark. The disc was a floater and got scuffed on the plastic spindle. I buffed out the mark with a cotton t-shirt and moderate pressure. It works great now and saved a return trip to WOW.
I'm cryin' for ya man! I don't trust UPS with a guitar unless it is in an original hardshell case. They weren't able to bust up my Fender Am Dlx Fat Strat or Hamer USA Special w/P90's shipped in OHSC. I don't mind having damaged HT gear, but don't trash a beautiful instrument UPS. Heinz...
The best way to eat leftover pizza. As soon as you wake, grab the cardboard box out of the fridge. Sit down next to that half-full beer that was left on the table overnight and enjoy the High Life!
No center channel for Praying Mantis.
Update 6/19:
The Sacred Mountains of Asia finally came thru with actual DD 5.1.
Dialog at the center with active surrounds.
Keep it coming Discovery HD Theater!!
Some very nice video! The DD 5.1 audio could be improved though. There is no center channel info on three of the DD 5.1 programs, Aluetian Mummies, Argentina, Wildebeast. I am still waiting for actual DD 5.1 as PBS HD Nova has.
