I'd like to hear MGM's reasoning for this. According to the SFI, "Persona", "Shame", and "Hour of the Wolf" should all be 1.37:1 academy. "A Passion" is the sole widescreen film, with a 1.66:1 aspect ratio. I'm not sure about "The Serpent's Egg" though it was probably a 1.66:1 production...
