I’d only go the Atmos route if I put the surrounds in the wall. However, the issue is if they are in the rear wall, they’d be 12-15 feet behind. I don’t think I can do the side walls because on one side, the wall ends a bit in front of the listening position, and on the other wall it would a bit...
Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of the Anthem MRX 1120 if I went 5.2.4 or the MRX 720 if I do 7.2 (I am curious about the new NAD T778 that just launched). The subs I’m leaning to are SVS because of the wireless capability. However, Rythmik Audio’s servo technology really appeals, but the...
I’m having a new home built next spring. I won’t have a dedicated home theater. My open plan great room (approx 20’ x 25’) is going to need to be my TV/audio area. I will have traditional speakers for L-R-C (currently have a Q Acoustics set up with the Concept 40’s in my condo), however surround...
Alright, my tastes are all over the board in no order:

The Verve "Urban Hymnns"

Golden Palominos "Pure"
Dido "No Angel"
Depeche Mode "Violator"

1. Does it effect the sound quality if you bundle interconnects close to each other (i.e twist-tie them together). I'm looking at the 6 interconnects for SACD. 2, Would an Anthem AVM20 produce too much heat to allow the placement of a DVD player on the top of it? Thanks
I realize that different equipment plays a role on what cables work best, so, here's what I have (or will have soon): Outlaw 950 pre-amp, Anthem PVA-5 5-channel amp, Pioneer Elite DV-A 45 uinversal player, and older NHT 2.1 speakers (silk dome tweeters). I need to get interconnects for the...
Paradigm speakers are a fantasic value, and are quite effcient, so any receiver should have no problem pushing them. As far as a receiver, I'd look at the Marantz SR-7300 or SR-6300, NAD T-742 or a similar price Harman Kardon unit. All three brands will sound good with music.
For the money, I agree that a Harman Kardon would be a good choice. You could also look for a Marantz SR-4200, this is being replaced by the SR-4300. Both of these brands have a nice sound quality for music, that I think are missing from run of the mill "Best Buy type" receivers.
WIthin the last few months, I remember reading a very favorable review on the new PS Audio 2-channel digital amp in Stereophile. The reviewer was Sam Tellig. If memory serves me correctly the price was around $1,400 or so. I think this will be the "next big thing." I also see Firewire...
The fan is too loud in my opinion. I have heard that NAD has been getting complaints, and will probably make changes to this model. I've heard shipping on the T-762 has been delayed. Maybe they are swapping out fans.
At our shop (in Mpls, sorry) we're selling the Integra 6.2 for $599. The new 6.3 model sells for $899. I think the 6.2 would be a great deal and save you a few bucks. -Pete
As a big fan of this music, I'm going to pick up this album you mentioned. I'd also be curious what others think of the "State of Grace" by Paul Schwatrz CD, personally I really like it.
