A Few Words About A few words about…™ Lawrence of Arabia - in 4k UHD Blu-ray

Why am I saying all this? Why all the trouble? Some people question screenshots, so the least they can do is to see it for themselves. But do it right: a fair apples to apples and oranges to oranges comparison. And if they do a fair comparison and still don´t see the difference, then it´s fine...

A Few Words About A few words about…™ Lawrence of Arabia - in 4k UHD Blu-ray

I usually avoid posting because as a non-native English speaker I have difficulties expressing properly and engaging in a discussion is a PITA. But here we go. The disc screenshots are all mine except for the first one. The screenshots from the web-dl are from the internet. Unfortunately I...

I´m the guy who posted the comparison between the disc and the streaming version, somewhere else. Here it is: https://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/3919 https://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/3873 https://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/3874...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Fury -- in Blu-ray

Arrow is a big improvement over TT. The TT image has been sharpened. Not the kind of unsharp masking which was heavily used with DVDs, and created -among other things - unpleasant halos by sharpening the edges of objects. This kind of USM is easily recognizable and obvious. There is another...

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ 2001: A Space Odyssey -- in BD & HD

The BD is very good considering that it was released in 2007. I scanned several 70mm frames at 8K some time ago and there´s indeed room for improvement.

A very helpul post, it has factual information and common sense. I couldn´t agree more.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Gentlemen Prefer Blondes -- in Blu-ray

Sharp eyes? Watching a video at a distance of 18 inches from a 24” computer monitor? A monitor which I usually use to edit images ( light DNR among other filters) in Photoshop? If I didn’t see the DNR, then using monitors for photo-editing would be worthless, and then I´d have to connect the...

I see the same DNR on my 120" screen and my 24" monitor.

GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES on Blu-ray - thoughts?

Well, I´ll claim it: it´s over-processed and over-scrubbed, and it doesn´t look like film. Certeainly not Patton, but after releasing something like The Sound of Music, I find it an outrage. And it´s in no way related to the ultraresolution process.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines... -- in Blu-ray

I agree, the problem is the movement, not the screen caps: if done properly, they look exactly as if we were pressing "Pause", I´ve done comparisons so many times. Its just that we can´t be sure about the content of the entire BD by checking 1/24 th fraction of a second. Anyway, I still think...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Cover Girl -- in Blu-ray

After reading Mr. Harris´s words, I´ve checked the screencaps at blu-ray.com and I can only stare at them in disbelief. Mr. Harris, I respect your opinions very much and my eyes have always agreed with your "A few words about", but do you really think this blu-ray is that terrible? I have no...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines... -- in Blu-ray

I love that change in aspect ratio (especially on a big 2.35 screen), also found in Superman and Around the world in 80 days.

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Ben-Hur -- in Blu-ray

Great article. Haya Harareet...whatever happened to her? I know she married Jack Clayton, but then she suddenly vanished and was never seen again (on the screen).
