    The Upgraded Anthem AVM-20 2.1

George, I would not change the the power cord on mine as the original is already an overkill for the current this device draws. It is not a power amp. If you do not have any wicked voltage fluctuations in your area, adding another power line conditioner (on top of what AVM20 has...

    The Upgraded Anthem AVM-20 2.1

You may find this interesting. Seems the D1 has a glitch that needs to be ironed out... http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...hreadid=409708 GK

    The Upgraded Anthem AVM-20 2.1

I am not surprised Anthem is considering a separate box. Some time ago I asked Nick if they would not consider an approach similar to the Bryston processor and he said that they were already. Nice, besides the clean circuitry separation, a separate box would provide more flexibility and extra...

    The Upgraded Anthem AVM-20 2.1

Lévesque, did you know your passion is contagious. Looking froward to your opinion. I would guess your AVM 20 is already gone so no A-B (or A-B-A to be more correct) comparison will be possible... GK

    "Secrets" announces Anthem's D-1

I followed the link and it seems the True Differential design gives you nothing over True Balanced design, if the later is properly designed (which is likely the case with AVM20). I believe D1 will outfeature AVM20 in time as it can possibly accommodate more new features like parametric room...

    The Upgraded Anthem AVM-20 2.1

Eliminating digital noise (from SAT receivers and HTPCs for example) is one of the reasons I try to use optical connections between these and the Anthem. Another one is ground loops. My next HTPC motherboard or sound card will have an optical output as well. I have heard the argument before that...

    The Upgraded Anthem AVM-20 2.1

I am pretty sure the electrician knows what he is doing. I would put all electronics on one phase in the new sub-panel, and may leave lighting and stuff on the other phase off the main panel. It is good to have all your lighting on one phase as it is easier to control with X10 type of devices...

    The Upgraded Anthem AVM-20 2.1

Lévesque, With long runs, ground loops can sometimes be a problem. This would also depend on other equipment you will use and how you design the electrical circuits in your new room. GK

    No sound from AVM-20

David, You have two more options before sending the unit for repair. Download the latest SW version (or use whatever you use now, if you keep the file around) and reload the SW, as Michael suggested. Save your settings before doing this. As a last step, if it still does not work, I would also...

    The Upgraded Anthem AVM-20 2.1

This article underlines again why we, Anthem owners, feel that Anthem should not give up on this product yet. If it takes HW upgrade (i.e.$) for some features, so be it. From what I have seen people ask for, a whish list for future evolution would include: - high speed digital...

    The Upgraded Anthem AVM-20 2.1

Did you get a hint what that "it" is going to be, HW upgrade, new SW or a combination? Were you asking about DPLIIx only?

    The Upgraded Anthem AVM-20 2.1

It may make sense for Anthem to upgrade the processing power first and pave the road to future SW upgrades. After all, these will be crunched for the upcoming D1 anyway. The current AVM20 processing platform may require much more development effort in order to squeeze these features without...

Need help deciding Best HT Processor under 5K

Mike, From what you say, you want to practically eliminate the internal sub x-overs by setting them all at their maximum levels, and let the processor do your bass management. I see nothing wrong with feeding all these different subs with the same x-over point from the processor. If you want...
