On the good side of HK I have a HK 510. Owned it for almost 2.5 years. So far, not one problem. QC was right on. the buttons, dials and functions all work great. I know there are some unhappy customers, but no company gets QC perfectly right. Since I have had no problems, I cannot comment on...
Check this out: http://store.yahoo.com/crazyeddieonl...hiba57h93.html apparently, there's also the H93 line now on sale at crazy eddie. anyone have more info on this? from ceddie, it sounds like it has a built in HDTV tuner. Is this correct? thanks ben
i'm helping a friend pick out a ht receiver and he's interested in the following features: 1. video signal upgrading so all video inputs, composite, s video, and component exit the receiver as component. This will simplify connection to the tv 2. built in amp and a/b switch for remote...
Congrats,
That was the only speaker I didn't build. I had them build it. You will be very pleased with the cc once it has some hours on it. I have the towers and they match nicely.
They are going to issue an update on the towers soon, with a different tweeter.
Overall, Speakerpage is an...
Logic 7 is significantly superior to DPL 1 on my HK510. I haven't heard DPL 2 yet, but am quite satisfied with logic 7 and am convinced that it's superior to DLP 1 in terms of producing a convincing and natural surround experience.
Remember, that HK's logic7 isn't HK's (originally). It's from...
Check out

For my first DIY, they sound great, was fun to build and still outperform retail upto 1200-1500 per pair.

Let me know if you have questions.
Ditto on my experience with the HK 510. Amazingly clear and smooth. Listened to a Denon 3802 yesterday and still feel the HK is cleaner and more transparent. Logic 7 is a bonus but haven't had the chance to compare with PL2.
The front panel interface is excellent and provides a lot of info...
I second the recommendation for www.speakerpage.com . I have their towers and am extremely impressed with the sound. As is true for most DIY speakers, the sound quality is far superior to retail, given that most retail speakers carry a 500-1000% markup. I would eagerly compare them to speakers...
Ditto the speakerpage project. Their kits are easy to build, and offer clean neutral sound at amazing prices. Here's a link for my Speakerpage front towers. Wayne and the others at speakerpage were extremely helpful, honest and knowledgeable. You can't go wrong.
My 2 cents,
Ben...
Shade,
Where have all the GOOD games gone?
Do they even make rockem sockem robots anymore? I guess it's all been replaced with computer versions of the same.
Julian,
I am interested in the explanation for both. Acoustically, I assume the + and - portions of the sound wave have an impact on where in the room you feel strong bass and where it is weak. It's pretty easy to tell, by walking around my listening area where the areas are. Fortunately, the...
I agree with Julian. Most theatres do NOT go as low as a decent home theatre, eventhough they can be very loud. Just saw "knight's tale" in a new digital theatre which boasts state of the art sound and picture, leather stadium seating, beer / wine, real food. Called the club theater at the...
After three months of loving a DIY home theatre, I have started to do some critical listening now that my speakers are well broken in. I noticed a dip in SPL from the Stereophile test CD from ~80hz to 40hz. My shiva sub is down ~3db at 20hz. It's tuned that way to account for inroom bass...
Great site Eric, what program are you using to author that?
Also, I wanted to know the following:
Where did you get the grill for the port?
How did you paint it?
Did you use a flared port or straight PVC?
I'm trying to do a sonotube in stealth mode, and will paint / cover it offwhite...
Ron,
Thanks for the prompt reply. Unfortunately, you don't know my wife! Her motto "stereos should be heard, not seen" goes very deep.
Is the wait still weeks for an order or are we now into months?
thanks
Ben
