They all seem to be getting a turn at the lightbulb moment this season.
Another amazingly subtle product placement from Ford this week - blink for 30 seconds and you would have missed it!
It's Garry Shandling's Show DVD news: It's Garry Shandling's Show - The Complete Series | TVShowsOnDVD.com It's coming...and a complete series set as well. I've recently watched season 1 having downloaded some off-air broadcasts and thought it was fantastic. I will be all over this set.
I gave up waiting for Fox ages ago and have been acquiring season 2 onwards by "other means". This is a truly hilarious series that has not dated even slightly, and it is an utter travesty that the remaining seasons haven't been made available.
I received season 11 of Cheers through the post yesterday, so that now goes on my list of completed series which also includes:
The Dick Van Dyke Show
Frasier
Friends
Seinfeld
Sex And The City
Curb Your Enthusiasm (until the next season is aired)
Reba Season 5
Absolutely shocking DVD release.
Firstly the episodes are presented in 4:3 instead of the broadcast widescreen. Secondly, the 22 episodes are on two double-sided discs, each with seven episodes on one side and four on the other. You can imagine how poor the picture quality is...
Perhaps, given that there are only to be 9 episodes in season 3, they are holding out to do a combined season 2 & 3 set, which would fit nicely as 31 episodes on 4 discs. Probably not, though. So neither Old Christine nor Reba is apparently a success on DVD. Two relatively well-rated modern...
I've had the season 1 set since release date. Why is no-one else buying it? Luckily I have all the season 2 and 3 episodes acquired by "other means", as it's probably the only way I'll get to see them. I would still buy the DVD sets as soon as they were released, though.
Having just watched "Cradle To Grave", it seemed to confirm my theory that what we have here is a potentially decent, if somewhat retro, newsroom comedy that's unnecessarily dragged down by the presence of late-period Frasier. Imagine this show with Patricia Heaton as the lead, playing a...
Interesting typo - perhaps "Davemen" would have been a much better series. The misadventures of a bunch of blokes all called "Dave"? Perhaps I'll start writing the pilot now.
An RRP of $39.99 seems expensive, especially as apparently not enough people bought Bob Newhart at $29.99. Perhaps this is Fox's new strategy for their unreleased shows. Release season 1 at too high a price so it doesn't sell enough, then use the fact that it doesn't sell enough as a reason...
It would be great to see this released, but unless Fox has done a job of managing its expectations of archive release sales, I can't see it getting past a couple of seasons.
Episode 5 was the best one yet in my opinion Sheldon's "This may be my new Tuesday hamburger" bit reminds me of both my own eating schedule (I have a Thursday night pizza, Wednesday night cannelloni etc), and of the way I have to occasionally rearrange my DVD watching schedule to accomodate...
