Rear surrounds in my 7.1 setup. Since I have the room behind I went with 7.1. To me it adds a little to the soundstage but it is not as big of an impact as you may think. If you are on the fence and your budget is limited, spend more on 5 speakers instead of stretching the budget to get 7.
