American Psycho 2? (1 Viewer)

So I was just browsing through the listings for upcoming DVDs at DVDEmpire, and I see that American Psycho 2 is coming out on June 18th. I didn't know that a sequal was in the works, let alone due out on DVD already. Is this direct to video? Has anyone seen it? I liked the first, but I can't imagine how it'd work for a sequel.

Oddly enough, IMDB has a listing for it, and William Shatner is in it? Very strange indeed.

This is a chessy straight-to-video sequel. It is not based on a book by Bret Easton Ellis (the author of "American Psycho").
Worst of all the "killer" in this one is Mila Kunis, aka. Jackie from That 70's Show.
She plays the only victim of Patrick Bateman who survived (this was in the book and not the movie) and then goes on a killing spree herself.
A sequel, of sorts, is also soon to be released called "The Rules of Attraction" that focuses on Bateman's younger brother in college. That film is based on an Ellis novel and is directed by Roger Avary. See Link Removed for details.

I guess it ended up being direct-to-video. The premise is that the surviving victim of Patrick Bateman's onslaught has become a killer herself. I can't imagine this being any good and the direct-to-video route gives confirmation to that.

Wait a minute-I thought that the whole point of the movie was that the entire thing was in Patrick's head the whole time, and that he was just nuts. How can there be a "surviving victim" of an onslaught that never happened?

I love AP. I think you are too young to appreciate it Matt as it really captures the essence of being in business in the 80s and the competetiveness of it. OBVIOUSLY the movie is an allegory for the cut throat nature of living in Manhattan in the 80s. I loved it. I believe that Patrick goes crazy and that the END of a movie is a farce.

I liked it. I acually saw it twice, once was months ago after renting it, and the second the other night on HBO. I initially didn't care for it because I was comparing it too much to the supreme original, which I also didn't like until a couple of more viewings, it grew on me. However, the other night I was more relaxed while watching the sequel and it's not bad for a slasher that's related to the first film in name only, besides the opening set up scene which I don't buy at all.
I mean come on, a killer as brilliant and methodical as Patrick Bateman being done in by a little girl!?
Not likely IMO.
As a stand alone thriller though, it works on some levels.
Mila Kunis from FOX's That 70's Show does a decent job of balancing extreme sexiness (and boy is she sexy) with twisted homicidal tendancies I thought, and it was also funny seeing William Shatner in it as well. All around, a decent film if your in the right mood, just try and put the first film out of your mind.

I love the original. Never saw part 2, but I have seen parts, and luckily, they all involved Mila.

i have tried to avoid it, it cant possibly be as good as the original; and in fact is looks horrible. on a similar subject, there is a girl in one of my classes that looks JUST like Malia and i even called her Jackie once, damn she is really really hot.

Kunis is adorable and she's not half bad in the flick.

The movie, however, really kinda sucks. Perhaps a revisit down the road will yield a better reaction, but I thought it was pretty bad.
