The star of Can't Buy Me Love, and a featured player in The Explorers. She had a short career in Hollywood, but she left an impression. I confess I had a bit of a crush on her in the '80s. Definitely gone too soon.
While the cause of her far too soon passing hadn't yet been determined when I discovered this sad news, Amanda did suffer from a number of respiratory related health issues, such as sleep apnea, and sinusitis, and a bout of pneumonia may also have been a contributing factor to her demise.
This is indeed, most sad! My condolences to Amanda Peterson's Family and Friends at this most difficult time! May she Rest in Peace.
I was head over heels for her after seeing both The Explorers and Can't Buy Me Love in the theater as a teenager. What a beautiful, talented actress she was. RIP.
So many celebs tweeted their condolences and how she was many of their first crushes due to Can't Buy Me Love (me too, as I was in my early teens when it came). Glad I wasn't the only one affected by her beauty and on-screen sweetness and charm (and I'm sure that extended to real life as well).
As a fellow sleep apnea sufferer who has problems using his CPAP machine, I'm sufficiently scared by this to give it a go again. I'm not much younger than her, and this is one of those "if it can happen to her, it can happen to anyone" realizations.
RIP and prayers for her, her family, and loved ones.
I didn't realize that was her singing "Rover, why not think it over" in Huston's Annie. That makes her the third person dead from that movie in the last 12 months after Edward Herrmann and Geoffrey Holder.
