Are new slimline receivers to be expected any time soon?

HDCP 2.2, full 4K support and Dolby Atmos are features not in the current ones AFAIK.

I'd imagine that a bit before CEDIA in Sept. there will be announcements. I have not seen anything as of late about DTS:X. I would imagine that once there is DTS:X news there will be product announcements about receivers shortly thereafter.
