I've always been a huge fan of Robert Altman's work, and the current arrival of not one, but two of his films is reason to celebrate - sort of.

Thieves Like Us is supported by the Altman stock company of players.  If you don't know who they are, watch a handful of Mr. Altman's films, and you will.

In this situation, we have Keith Carradine and Shelley Duvall in the leads, traveling the American mid-west in the 1930s.  Not a fun time.

Like all Altman films, viewing Thieves Like Us will not be appropriate for visits to the fridge, bathroom, or to take phone calls.  I've always found that his work demands both respect as well as one's undivided attention.

Give it that, and you'll have a great time.

The new Blu-ray looks very good, but never great.  A nice Blu-ray, but not a perfect one.

My second favorite Altman film ( right behind "Nashville"). Bring on the funny, and weird "Brewster McCloud" and I'll be all set. Thanks for the review Mr. Harris.
