I dragged my then girlfriend and her brother to see this incomprehensible movie during the 80s 3D revival (how that woman put up with me for so long is a miracle). We all agreed that although the 3D was OK, the movie, in addition to being total garbage, was too dark.
I called the cinema a few days later and spoke to manager about it. He told me that they were aware of the problem but in attempting to increase the brightness, the inevitable heat increase had damaged the projector's lens so TO4C would be a bit murky for the rest of its run.

I have always wanted to see this in 3D. When I went to the theater to see it (after seeing and completely enjoying the schlocky but vibrant 3D in Comin' at Ya!), the 3D wasn't working and the screen was a complete blur, and I was given a refund. I never made it back to see if they got things straightened out. So, this is one of the 1980s 3D films I didn't get to see (I saw almost all of the others.)

There should be a heat filter between the lamp house and the projector to stop the heat from damaging the film or the lens.

Maybe it failed under unusual circumstances. I think he said the lens cracked but it was a long time ago.

This was the first polarized 3D movie I ever saw, and by the end I truly felt that it was the best movie I'd ever seen! :) I'd buy this in an instant.

"Forged from the wealth of Kings"

I still have a stack of unused TOTFC 3-D glasses from the original theatrical run.

I still have my Jaws 3D specs and a Security Zone badge from Parasite.

In a contest for World's Most Misleading Trailer this would be high on the medal table. Starring Tony Anthony, armed only with his mystical Rally Jacket of the Gods.

I wasted five bucks or so seeing this movie in theaters with a friend when it came out in the 80s.
I'd like to think I learned my lesson then - this movie was memorably awful.
I mean, Golden Turkey Award Robot Monster awful.
I mean, bad enough that my friend and I turned to each other and apologized simultaneously for wanting to see that pile of gachhk in the first place.

The only other time I've had as memorably awful of a movie experience was when I had the Brian dePalma comedy Mission to Mars inflicted on me.
