I recently discovered a new series of photonovels based on the Original Star Trek. I don't want to call them comic books, because they don't feel like it. When I read one, it's almost like watching a new original Star Trek episode shot back during the 1960s TV run. John Bryne has done a magnificent job using HD film stills to create new episodes, sometimes slightly altering the stills and making other subtle changes. The result is fantastic, in my opinion. And the writing is spot on. If you're an original series fan, you should check one of these out. My favorite is a sequel to THE DOOMSDAY MACHINE.

I think I would rather have them be full comics. I know the episodes so well that I know that these are just repurposed scenes with new dialog. However I am impressed with the work.

I understand what you're saying, but a closer examination will reveal that the work goes way beyond repurposed scenes. Expressions have been changed, bodies, clothing, new backgrounds created. Each new story gets more sophisticated in its technical ambition.
