A quick overview of the new "Clint Eastwood- 8 Movie Collection" from Universal UK. Contains several titles new to bluray- 'Play Misty For Me', 'The Bequiled', 'The Eiger Sanction' etc...

It is a nice set I had it pre-ordered and was dying for the set to get here imported from Amazon UK and it was worth it. KInd of surprised it wasn't announced for a U.S. release date yet. I am glad I didn't hold out for the U.S. release. Play Misty for Me and all the titles IMO look good. I can't imagine them looking any better.

The UK set does not contain COOGAN'S BLUFF, but does contain BREEZY, which Eastwood directed but did not star in. It's a trade-off.

The UK set DOES contain 'Coogan's Bluff'- you can clearly see it in the video. I think you may be confusing the UK boxset with the German set which I believe may have a different selection of movies.

I think it is the German Set that doesn't contain Coogan's Bluff. I have the UK set and it has all the titles that are shown in the video.

Also I loved BREEZY the story was slightly different then where I imagined the storyline would go and how the subject matter was handled. It is a good film IMO worthy of being part of this collection. Universal should have called it the Clint Eastwood Complete Universal Studios Collection.

Yes, as a huge Eastwood fan I am thrilled to own these titles- his films never seem to age! Watched 'Misty' last night and very happy with picture quality. :)

Are you sure about that, as I've seen posted pictures in which both are in this box set? http://www.hometheaterforum.com/topic/323580-whats-on-your-weekend-viewing-list/?p=4151773

Eiger Sanction
Breezy
High Plains Drifter
Joe Kidd
Play Misty For Me
The Beguiled
Two Mules for Sister Sara
Coogan's Bluff
Well, another idiotic oversight -- I actually bought the German set, which contains only six movies: BREEZY, THE EIGER SANCTION, PLAY MISTY FOR ME, BEGUILED, TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARA and JOE KIDD. It's missing only COOGAN'S BLUFF, and I already own HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER. Plus, it was cheap.

That's correct, the German set misses COOGAN'S BLUFF because of the rightholder (it's Koch), and HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER because of it's banned* status.

well, banned is probably the wrong term. We call it "indiziert", which means it's not verboten but also not a regular 18-years-rated-movie (something inbetween, weird, I know  )

For anyone that is interested in standalone versions of these films, they are being released in Greece on February 20th.

Strange that I don't see individual Blurays in any other part of the world.

Not sure about the region, though I bet they will be the exact same Blurays in the UK set, which are Region Free from what I know.

They are now up from pre-order in Scandanavia through CDON.COM. Here's the link to "The Eiger Sanction" (the others are all available too, just search the titles):

Hopefully, a UK (or preferably US) release of the singles will be coming soon as I already own most of these and don't want to buy the whole set with duplicates.

The US set releases May 5 with 7 titles (Breezy is missing) and priced at $76.34.

I think I'll keep my UK set :)
