Hi all,
My setup as of now:
Mordaunt Short 904
Mordaunt Short 905
Mordaunt Short 903
Polk Audio psw110
Onkyo TX-NR509
I was very happy with my setup but things just got complicated. A friend offered to trade his NHT 2.3 for my Mordaunt Short 904 (which I love and are 9/10 cosmetically).
MS 904-- 1" + 5 1/4 "
NHT 2.3--1" + 6.5" + 2 x 6.5"
Would appreciate some advice on considering this trade.
Thank you

The only issue you might run into is one of personal taste. The 2.3 is almost 10db less efficient than the 904...meaning a direct A-B comparison will be next to impossible.

Odd...I saw a graph where it worked out to 82 on the 2.3.

3db is still significant. The NHT will require twice the power for the same volume. So, if you use 20 now...you'll need 40.

Thanks Sam.

One more question though. I dont have any quality amp yet. I am using Onkyo 509.
At 80W /ch (and rated for 8 ohms) will it be good enough for NHT 2.3 that are 4 ohms and 86db.

My media room is 18' x 12' but I dont want to overheat the amp.

I am swapping only MS 904's.

So my set-up would be-- 2.3 x 2, MS 905, MS 903 x 2 (4 ohm)

I have to decide by tomorrow morning. You think its a good idea or I should just keep my MS set.

Receiver will have to drive 86db 4 ohm front towers and two small 4 ohm surround speakers. I dont listen to music that loud just occasional Mark Knopfler, Eric clapton but the problem is when my father in law visits and watches action movies all day long.
