I don't know who currently has the rights to this HBO film (Warner Bros?), but it's a fine film in desperate need of Blu-ray release.

Technically, one is The Changeling and the other is simply Changeling.

okay - it was interesting enough to me that i did some research.

there were some discrepancies between what actually happened, and what the film stated - i wish the true stories told the real truth - but almost none of them do.

Since the Header states: THE CHANGELING...and "1979" I hope we are talking about the George C. Scott movie...a great movie, very tense moments and the sound is interesting too...bathtub scenes it really "surrounds" you even on the DVD. I would really enjoy a blu ray of this one!!

One of the best underrated ghost films ever made. Love it.

Aw, I hoped there was something new about a release when I saw this topic. This is one of my most wanted titles on blu-ray.

Maybe next year, since we get The Haunting (another favorite of mine) this year?

Actually, I suspect maybe this might be in Lionsgate's camp now. Both THE CHANGELING and THE SILENT PARTNER were very early productions by Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna, the founders of Carolco (FIRST BLOOD, BASIC INSTINCT, TERMINATOR 2). Initially, both titles got seed money from HBO in exchange for home video rights, which first went to Vestron when HBO had a deal with them, and later to HBO when they got their own standalone label. However, a few years ago, THE SILENT PARTNER reverted to StudioCanal, who put it out through Lionsgate. The logic suggests that THE CHANGELING would follow suit as well. The fact that it has not surfaced is probably due to Lionsgate's general disinterest in catalog titles.

On the plus side, raising the possibility of an SC release in Europe, which may well be region free.

I stand to be corrected, but I think SC releases are general not locked.

Both The Changeling and The Silent Partner are classic, in my opinion.

Lionsgate released a handful of good Special Edition horror DVDs around 2007 and '08, which I thought did well enough for them because I remember someone from the label promising to open up their vaults to release more catalog horror titles. THE MONSTER SQUAD and MY BLOODY VALENTINE, specifically, were hot sellers at the time. It's a shame that they apparently have no interest in doing anything with those movies, some of which have been highly requested. Horror titles always seem to do well and a bunch of 'em are coming out through various independent labels in the next few months. They should at least allow those titles to be handled by someone else, like Shout Factory.

Awesome! I would prefer a domestic release, but I might be willing to go the forty bucks or so (with shipping) for this title. Ditto THE SILENT PARTNER.
