Sally Ride, America's first woman in space, died today at the way too young age of 61:

Her accomplishments went way beyond her two rides on the Space Shuttle. She will be missed.

Three truths about movies, as noted by Roger Ebert:

* It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

* No good movie is too long, and no bad movie is short enough.

* No good movie is depressing, all bad movies are depressing.

At a such young age, indeed. I remember learning about her, back when I had a huge interest in astronomy and NASA, and mistakenly thinking she was the first woman ever in space.
