I just noticed on the FNAC website that both "Daddy Long Legs" and " Forever Amber" are coming out in France on Blu Ray in September!
Interesting!kagemusha98 said:I just noticed on the FNAC website that both "Daddy Long Legs" and " Forever Amber" are coming out in France on Blu Ray in September!
I'm very sorry, Ken! I was furious after spending a great deal on EXODUS from Amazon.fr. The German one has removeable subs, as do THE LONG HOT SUMMER and THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE. Why the French do this is beyond my comprehension. If there were some studio use clause involved, then the Germans would have to do it also, right? I just hope that we get a German AMBER sometime soon.kagemusha98 said:They are not removable.... Maybe I should check out the German releases.
Thanks for that. I'll place my order today.lionel59 said:I am happy to report that the German blu ray of THE RAINS OF RANCHIPUR is a superb 2.55:1 transfer in surround sound (the information given on the back cover wrongly states that it is in 'Mono'. A website I checked corrected this and states that it is in 'Stereo Surround'). It does not have the isolated score track which the Twilight Time edition offers, however it does have superior cover art in my opinion. Plus it's a good deal cheaper!
If the picture quality is first rate and there are no forced sub-titles, I'll buy Moulin Rouge which I haven't seen for more than twenty years and The Four Feathers which should look magnificent in high definition.Ed Lachmann said:There are couple of new classic BDs from France that I would gladly buy, but am worried about the forced subtitle issue. A company referred to as ElephantFilms on Blu-Ray.com but called Elysees Editions on Amazon France's site have released MOULIN ROUGE (FERRER/GABOR) , LADY HAMILTON and THE FOUR FEATHERS (KORDA) in blu-ray. Reviews claim that the image quality on these is quite good. No word on the subs yet. I'll try to get more info on this matter. Am hopeful that more interesting titles will be coming from them in the near future.
Thanks for the report, I thought the English mono must be a mistake, sorry Twilight Time but this is less than half the TT price, the price seems to jump between 10 euro & 14 euro, no rush I'll think I'll wait for the 10 euro price.lionel59 said:I am happy to report that the German blu ray of THE RAINS OF RANCHIPUR is a superb 2.55:1 transfer in surround sound (the information given on the back cover wrongly states that it is in 'Mono'.
