I recently received an e-mail asking where I've been. I last posted here in 2009. I have no problems with any of the posters here. It's just that my life has been incredibly wild over the course of the past year. Not always for the positive, though...

To get the worst out of the way, last November, my Mom lost her 5 year battle with cancer. We knew it was coming, but the intensity and speed with which it came was shocking. One week, she was weak but talking regularly. The next, she was mumbling and regressing to an almost childlike state. It was intense to deal with. At the reading of the will, I saw that she planned well ahead for our family, and invested quite wisely for us. She was a very good woman, and every day that passes, I miss her terribly.

I've also had to deal with the fact that the psychologist who was recommended to me by my old one, who moved away in 2009, didn't really pan out. He was a rather aggressive individual, and he seemed like he might have needed some therapy himself.

Through it all, I've sought solace in retro culture, and I've kept things going at RetroJunk. I've done quite a lot of celebrity interviews since my interview with Sherilyn Fenn, and here are a few of the ones I'm most proud of:

A Talk With Martha Davis (Lead singer of The Motels): http://www.retrojunk..._articles/6615/

A Talk With Taylor Negron (The veteran character actor): http://www.retrojunk..._articles/6914/

A Talk With Robert Romanus (The actor who played Damone in "Fast Times At Ridgemont High"): http://www.retrojunk..._articles/7029/

A Talk With Jane Wiedlin (The guitarist for The Go-Gos): http://www.retrojunk..._articles/7030/

A Talk With Cindy Morgan (The co-star of "Caddyshack" and "Tron"): http://www.retrojunk..._articles/7045/

I also wrote a poem last year about 80s movies entitled "The Neon Screen": http://www.retrojunk..._articles/6328/

I'm also active on Facebook as well, where I finally got the chance to tell Sherri Stoner how big of an influence she was on me as a writer.

Life is a rollercoaster, but I'm not getting off any time soon.

So, in summation, I'm still around, and if I don't post here that often anymore, it's not because of any of you. This website has helped me to grow as a person, and through the ups and downs, you've all had great advice.

I hope you all continue to do well, and I'll continue to check in on occasion.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

Keep on and keep strong.

I'm sorry for your loss.  Your mom sounds like she was a remarkable woman.  You were certainly missed around here.  I look forward to reading your interviews.

John,

My condolences at the loss of your mother.  It is good to hear from you and like Greg said - I will be checking out your interviews as well.  Hope to see you around here more.

Thank you for your good wishes. You never know how life will turn out next. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, I can't say I'm really quite sure. I think of the old saying "May you live in interesting times". Whether that refers to national events or day-to-day experiences, it often feels like I'm living in those times as we speak. I'm just glad that I have a solid base of people I can talk to, both in the real world and online.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

A mixture of good and bad things always happen. I just hope to get a long period of good things soon, though.

Hi John!

Thanks for stopping by.  I, for one, hope to see you around more often.

Us October 2001 sign-ups have GOT to stick together!  Posted Image

I was just reading the thread with your interview with Sherilyn Fenn the other day.  It had recently gotten bumped up here in AHL.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself.Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Hi John!  Sounds like a rough year.  I've been a pretty sporadic poster here myself lately.  But I try to check in every once in a while.
