Thank God... I've been waiting for this for a long time now. I was sure it was DOA when it was cancelled before, but thanks to his son, and his RESPECT for his daddy's work and legacy, wer'e now getting it!! There's no details yet about content, i'm sure we'll know very soon. Release dat is supposed to be Sep. 18. He had such a great show with so many great guests, I hope we get some really good footage out of this. My only worry is that Paul Brownstein productions might be doing it, and they just butcher shows to ribbons. But I guess we'll see.

I'm not a fan of country music, but Johnny Cash is one of the few exceptions that I've made because he was a true American original (in that nobody sounded like Johnny before or since). His musical variety show was produced from 1969 to 1971, during one of the most spectacular eras in TV history. I've seen clips of his shows over the years, and one of them included former comedian / bandleader Phil Harris (doing his famous "That's What I Like About the South" signature tune).

I wasn't too thrilled with the "best of" title because I was hoping for some complete shows, but It's better then nothing.

Johnny Cash was also well used as a guest twice on Flip Wilson in the 1970s (one of them was with his wife June Carter Cash) and as host / musical guest on Saturday Night Live in 1982.

Glad to hear this is coming. I'm sure it will include episodes with Neil Young, Kris Kristofferson and more, pending the legal rights.

I can't imagine what you mean by this. Brownstein has consistently produced the best TV/DVD sets of them all. Far from "butchering," the shows he's been involved with have had clean transfers of complete episodes. Check out his work on The Twilight Zone Definitive Collection, the Dick Van Dyke Show and Get Smart: The Complete Series.

I second that. I'm currently watching (among many other things) both the "Get Smart" and "Dick Van Dyke" sets and wishing that as much care had been put into other favorite shows.
