Schickel is a crtitic and scholar and should be held to a higher standard, but if you think he has his facts confused, check out Mark Rydell's commentary on "The Cowboys". I think he mentions at least twice how he gave John Williams his first big scoring job with "The Reivers". Posted Image

I thought Williams scored films before "The Reivers".

That was my point. He scored many films before "The Reivers" including "Valley of the Dolls" and "How to Steal a Million". It was an example of a confused fact from "The Cowboys" commentary. Regards,
