i posted this over in tvs but didn't get much response. let's see if you guys can help.
i think this goes in here, since i think my tv is the issue. anyway, i have a 50" toshiba rptv that i love. i have my dvd & sat hooked up and everything is fine. i have a problem with my dreamcast tho, the picture is shifted to the right an inch or so. it happens with all games (and without games). i tried s-video & composite (two different cables). it works fine on my 27" jvc directview tv. i checked all over sega's site, couldn't find anything in the tech area. any ideas guys?
thanks,
~erik
i thought it was convergence, but the dvd/sat picture is dead on, and i even unplugged the sat and moved the dreamcast hookup to that in (thought maybe my video 2 in was hosed up or something). does the same thing. i also plugged up my psx and it does the same thing.

Every TV I use my consoles on has this same thing. Some games allow you to shift the picture around, and that usually fixes it.
Recently bought Devil May Cry and noticed that on my TV it has a little gap on both sides. It might just be my TV.

Hey guys, I have a 55" Hitachi UltraVision and my picture is dead on. Maybe the problem is with certain brands.

Larry,
Widescreen or standard set?
It only manifests on WS sets...

Interesting. I assumed (and you know what happens when you assume) that Toshiba+50" = Widescreen.
I've never seen/heard of the shift happening on a 4x3 set before...

The 'problem' lies within the console. I set up my 55" widescreen with the avia overscan pattern to a dead on 3% all the way around (spent days going mad in the service geometry menus on my set). Actually, niether my DC or my PS2 fills up the frame completely, on either side. I just deal with it since I don't want to wreck my overscan and geometry.
I was thinking that it could be like a forced 'title safe' area, because most TVs are set with overscan between 8-10% on each side ...but the top and bottom of the image is not cut off at all, so this can not be the reason.
