Where the hell is THE WIRE? It's the best show on television. As far as I'm concerned, they should have separate Emmys or separate award shows for cable, because the shows on cable are so much better than all the shit on network (CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX) that it's not even funny anymore. A world where Deadwood isn't nominated for best drama, Ian McShane isn't nominated for best actor, and Chris Bauer isn't nominated for best Actor for The Wire, is a pretty shitty world indeed.

John Ritter?

No love for The Shield or American Dreams.

Pretty surprised all 3 supporting actresses from Sex and the City were nominated.

Nip/Tuck only got love in the non-acting categories.

Glad to see James Spader get some love, but too bad William Shatner did not.

A lot of the nominations seem to depend on inertia of past success, rather than reflection of good TV work at the present.

Who knew "Hairstyling" got its own category in the Emmy's?

I thought for a second that the Emmy committee may had been scared off by Mcshane's character's often use of colorful expletives, I mean come on how do you show a clip of an Al scene? But then again they did nominate Calamity Jane...

It widely known that the show is improvised, so I think they took that into account when handing out the nominations.

As far as the other nominations are concerned, John Ritter for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series?! Dude was only in 3 or 4 episodes. There's nothing wrong with honoring the guy posthumously, but that's going a little too far. Especially when it screws someone like Jason Bateman out of a nod.

Thankfully, Spader was recognized for Best Lead Actor in a Drama. If there's any justice, he'll take home the Emmy. He singlehandedly resurrected The Practice(and inspired the spinoff).

Can somebody explain why the "Arrested Development" pilot episode was nominated for Art Direction for a Multi-Camera Series and Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series?

I have no respect (never had much before...now, none) for an academy that nominates the following:

West Wing
John Ritter (bless his soul, but come on...)
Sarah Jessica Parker
Matt LeBlanc
James Brolin

But, fails to nominate Ian McShane.

The Emmy's have a long, horrible history of crappy, lazy voting. But, snubbing McShane is the last straw.

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!

Typo or wishful thinking by the peacock ?

Count me in with the crowd that thinks Deadwood got F__KED by the limber-d__ked C__KSUCKERS. Mr. Mcshane especially. Best actor without a doubt !

The Emmys are, deservedly, the easiest target on the planet. Thank God they give their ridiculous nominees year after year after year so we get our batting practice in.

I don't know how many ways to say that Alison Janney plays a SUPPORTING role on West Wing. It just is folks!!!

Where the hell is Scrubs for BEST comedy series?

The Shield is EASILY better this year than at least 2 of the nominees for best drama series. Good chance Nip/Tuck is as well. NOBODY thought West Wing was in the top 20 dramas this year. And Michael Chiklis should be a lock among these nominees. Did the voters get ALL 5 actors in dramatic lead wrong?

Do these people even WATCH television anymore? Are there too many parties to attend? Too many candidates to endorse? Too many celebrity game shows to go on?

(sorry for the caps, helped me get away from the four-letter adjectives I really wanted to use)

Star Wars: Clone Wars' nom... Futurama's two noms... Enterprise's four technical noms (I'm probably the only one happy for this show)... William Shatner for Outstanding Guest Actor...

No love for Angel... No love for Gilmore Girls except for some technical nom (I don't even remember what it was and I can't find it in the first post in this thread)... Frasier getting snubbed in the Outstanding Comedy Series category for its best season in years...

That shouldn't matter. They don't show clips for acting categories.

He was totally robbed. Martin Sheen being nominated every year is a joke. He reads his lines on The West Wing like he is doing soliloquies on Broadway, and he is obviously the weakest actor on the show.
