Intelligence officer. Stupidity officer is more like it. Pentagon wants to open a Stupidity Division, they know who they can get to lead it.

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including (or the ones Dave tells me he's looking for ;o)). In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. So, please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like Dave & I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the standard Roundup: they set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. When it comes to Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Mileage May Vary".

**BE CAREFUL! The Bourne Identity AND Against The Ropes are available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one!!!

--Amazon is still featuring free shipping on orders over $25. Restrictions apply.

--Best Buy.com is offering a better deal ($17.99) on Against The Ropes than this week’s Best Buy flyer($19.99).

--Best Buy and Circuit City are also both advertising the fact that re-release of The Bourne Identity DVD has a free movie ticket for The Bourne Supremacy(in theaters July 23). Up to $10.50 value. Valid 7/23/04 through 8/8/04.

--Best Buy is advertising that the Hercules-Season 4 DVD set has an “Exclusive Bonus – Interviews with cast and crew”. I don’t know if that means that the “interviews with cast & crew” are exclusive to the Best Buy DVD set or if you simply cannot see them anywhere else but on the Season 4 set. Maybe a RoundUp reader will have the answer.

The latest markdowns according to DavisDVD:

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself.Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Thanks for the round up Mike. Too bad there isn't anything of worth this week. Oh well, that means I can get a new game or some older dvds I might have missed.
I need a new signature.

Yikes! This is the weakest week for new releases in recent memory! It's a good breather/catch-up week for catalog titles...

I'll at least be getting the Farscape release, then my collection will be complete (until the miniseries). I'll possibly pick up The Bourne Identity, and The Manchurian Candidate. Thanks for the aspect ratio warning, Mike!

Thanks Mike.

Just Manchurian Candidate for me.

I completely missed Everybody Loves Raymond being pushed back, and thought it was still coming this week. Posted Image

Ric, judging by this thread, you might be better off looking for the older, Collectors Edition of the Bourne Identity, and just renting the Explosive Extended edition if you just have to see the unused beginning and ending footage.

The Manchurian Candidate for me. This was playing on a local PBS station last night and only caught the last 40 - 50 minutes. I had forgotten how great a movie this is.

The Best Buy price makes this a must buy for me. I just hope my local BB has this in stock. The local BB is notorius for either not stocking or "understocking" older titles.

Anyone know if it has been rescheduled?

I never bought or seen Bourne, but if fye has the new release for $9.99 after rebate with the free ticket for the sequel, I'll probably pick it up Tues.

Thanks as always, Mike. This would be a complete bust of a week if it weren't for several good 60's spy flicks. Cheap too - Mancurian Candidate, Spy Who Came In From The Cold, and Conterfeit Traitor are all winging their way to me from various e-tailers at about $9 apiece shipped. Posted Image

Three truths about movies, as noted by Roger Ebert:

* It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

* No good movie is too long, and no bad movie is short enough.

* No good movie is depressing, all bad movies are depressing.

Phil: It was the same for me. But, after I saw a preview for the Bourne Supremacy, I figured I better see The Bourne Identity first, so I scarfed one up a couple of weeks ago (before I knew a re-release was coming!) at a local EBGames for $9.99 and couldn't be happier. Fun movie. I would highly recommend it before seeing Supremacy. Only because there's a lot of interesting information about the character of Bourne included in Identity.

But, Marty: Didn't you see the tag line in the poster included at the head of the RoundUp?!? "If you come in five minues after this movie begins, you won't know what its all about!" Posted Image

I think it'll just be the Manchurian Candidate for me, too.

As Patrick said above, if you're interested in The Bourne Identity, you're better off looking for the original Collectors Edition release.

This new, supposed "Explosive Extended" edition is really just the same transfer as the original CE (the film itself has not been re-edited), plus they've dropped the DTS track in favor of some new marketing fluff.
