Recently when I was at a store, I came across the Dracula and Frankenstein Universal Monsters discs brand new. I remember readin somewhere that they are out of print(though I could be wrong), so I picked them up for 20 dollars each. While I was walking around waiting for my mom to finish her shopping there, I noticed they had the Wolfman too, but I couldn't get it due to spending my money on other purchases. Hopefully I'll be able to get that too when I go back there.

Wow, you really lucked out! They've been out of print for quite some time now. I've been looking for them all over the place...with no success!

$20 seems like a lot of money for those titles, though.

That's a good deal, I would definitely pick them up. Most of these titles were over $20 when they were available. I think they were $24.

These titles are "on moratorium," but I have no idea for how long. They are going for around $45 each on half.com and eBay. I'd say you got a pretty good deal. I picked up Frankenstein for about $15 recently, but I've been unable to find Dracula.

Rumour has it that they will be available again at the end of 2004 to co-incide with the DVD release of the new Van Helsing movie from Stephen "The Mummy" Sommers.

Somehow, I don't think an audience which approves of "an ass kicking action hero" Van Helsing (played by X-Men's Hugh Jackman) will be that keen to watch "old" black and white movies (and indeed vice versa).

Surely these films are timeless classics, and don't need to ride on the "success" of a modern day movie?

But these days, everything is about marketing synergy :frowning:

Glad I got them then. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up the Wolfman and any others they might have when I get the money, if the DVDs are still there.
