Canadian "Treasure Planet" buyers beware (1 Viewer)

For some reason, Future Shop and other stores are selling two versions of Treasure Planet. Usually the French cover version isn't widely available, but a look at futureshop.ca and dvdsoon.com shows that they're advertising both equally (in fact, the "coming soon" link on Futureshop.ca gives you the French cover by default)...so make sure you don't buy the wrong one:

AFAIK the discs should be exactly the same. I think only Monsters Inc had differences between the canadian and US version..

uups this is only about the canadian version???
so the first has french and english on the same cover whereas the second one has a reversible cover.

HUH?

Future Shop and DVDsoon are offering Treasure Planet in two releases. One with English packaging and one with Bilingual packaging (for those who want that). The DVDs are THE SAME. It's the artwork that's different.

The DVD is identical to the US release.

I don't see any problem with foreign language covers - in fact, I kind of like them. I have DVDs from all over the world and French, Spanish, German and Japanese language spines stand side by side on my shelf. Gives my collection a nice exotic feel

And I saved over $40 by ordering the Babylon 5 season one boxset from Germany

^ yeah, I don't mind French on covers either. But many people do and I just think that they should be informed of the two covers when ordering online.

^ no, futureshop.ca has two separate links. One to the French cover and one to the English cover. You can order both. They have different UPCs listed.

I think I'd rather have the bilingual title cover. I hate that "Version Francaise Inclusé" nonremovable "sticker."

Typically the french langauge cover version is sold by wholesalers to Quebec retailers and rental stores, but such french language editions of videotapes have made their way into our local public library, so this would fit in rather nicely, thanks...

This sort of thing is more suitable in their locations where the preference (by law, yet) is French signs being far more highly visible than English ones.
