So many "bargain" games are cheap for a reason. I've found some that are great, like BUFFY and MUNCH'S ODDYSEY, but what other cheapo XBOX games are worth a purchase? I'm po, but I still needs my gamin' fix. Any suggestions?

if ya want i would say get max payne for a fun game, but if you want a game you can put lots of hours in till you got mo' money, get amped or rallysport.

But mo' money = mo' problems.

I'd strongly recommend Project Gotham, Rallisport, Max Payne, and Morrowind. The PS2 version of Star Wars Starfighter was good, and the Xbox version is supposed to be better, so I'd recommend that too(although not before the first 4).

You should also pick up the JSRF/Sega Gt disc if you don't have one.

I've been a long-time fan of Gotham, it's worth the old full price (I paid).

I just got rallisport challenge and it has some elements that make it worth the money to me, though I don't think I'd take it over Gotham.

The biggest suprise for me was Amped. I have become obsessed with this game. In all my years of console gaming, it's the only thing that actually caused a callus on my thumb. It's got a big learning curve, but once you get it it's a lot of fun. It looks great, sounds great, and plays different on every run. Highly recommended.:)

Amped 2 is on the way as well...

These aren't "Platinum", but they can easily be found for the same price:
  • Aggressive Inline
  • Hunter
  • Outlaw Golf
  • SSX Tricky

Personally I have to say Blood wake.

Picked it up for the 4 player goodness, and have been really draw into the single player game. Did not expect to find a real plot in a mideless killing game. But it really surprised me. And it looks incredible, very sweet water effects.

Thanks for the recommendations. I almost picked up MAX PAYNE and SILENT HILL 2 the other day, but got MGS SUBSTANCE instead. Love it. I waffled on MAX PAYNE because I thought maybe it would play better on the PC and I didn't get SILENT HILL because I had read some not-so-enthusiastic reviews. I really liked the original for the PS1, though. Is the second one just as good?

I loved SH1, mildly disliked SH2. It was too slow for my tastes. And it was more powerful than Sominex. :)

I'm with Dave F. I loved Silent Hill on the PSX but when I rented SH 2 for the PS2 is was a total yawner. Perhaps if I gave it more time I'd learn to like it. Max Payne is great but if you've got a decent PC get it on that. I've got an aging G4 Macintosh so the XBox version was a perfect match for me. I've heard mixed things about amped but I'll probably pick it up as I always enjoy a good winter themed game ;)

I have to disagree with the Daves, I really enjoyed both Silent Hills. I thought Silent Hill 2 was excellent. It's probably my favorite of the Platinum titles.

I picked up Project: Gotham two weeks ago and I am hooked. I purposefully held back from getting it when it came out because I was immersed in Gran Turismo 3 at the time and assumed (rightfully) that any other racing sim would pale in comparison.

Well, today, GT3 has long been completed and at $20 I couldn't pass it up.

I got Project Gotham Racing today and I haven't been able to stop playing it. It is so addicting.

Would I be able to "get" SH2 if I didn't play SH1? (I played the demo, so I know the basic first story, and what the gameplay was like, but of course, the demo doesn't give more than a fraction of the plot.)

The only constant in the Silent Hill series is the town. Characters and plot are different in each installment.

To contribute something on topic, $10 smackers for NFL 2k3 at Amazon. If you don't have it, buy it. It's worth it.
