My first thought was that the term itself was too new, but easily proved myself wrong and found the term friggin' was a much older term than I would
have dreamed. Even better looking deeper I found this which I'd never heard of before -- mostly did Greek and Roman mythology back in the day and never read much Norse despite my surname. Amazing what you find out from bizarre unrelated Internet threads

"Frigg was the goddess of marriage and justice. In Norse Mythology she was foremost among the goddesses and the wife of Odin (or Wodin). Thor was either her brother or stepson. Wednesday is named after Wodin, Thursday after Thor and Friday after Frigg. The word frigg has nothing to do with wanking or fucking and is not a substitute for these pleasures of the flesh. Like many four letter words it would have passed down into modern usage from the Saxons/Vikings, and in sophisticated Norman England would have been considered as base and vulgar, a word used only by peasants.
Frigg had twelve handmaidens each with specialist powers. One of these for instance was Eir who was the god’s healer and it doesn’t take much imagination to visualise a hoary Viking banging his thumb while mending his shield and screaming out. “Oh Frigg, it hurt.” Thus hoping she would send Eir to ease his throbbing digit. Hence the modern expression, “Oh frigg it” when something goes wrong.Similarly the same hoary Viking, when confronted with an enormous catastrophe like his longboat capsizing in the middle of the North Sea full of pillaged gold would have cried out, “Oh Frigg where are you. Have you deserted us? Well you can go and rot in Valhella” Obviously this is the root of the modern expression, “ Friggin Hell”, for something unbelievably surprising."

My own music Hall-of-Famer is Joni Mitchell's "Raised on Robbery". After years of listening to that song in Lo-fi, Hi-fi, and Stereo...on everything from over the air Radio to remastered audiophile Records and CDs...every single time it came to the line "I'm rough, but I'm pleazin", all I could hear was "I ralphed on a pizza."

I always wondered what "Donzerly Light" was in the national anthem.

One day in -- I think it was seventh grade, I decided I wanted a pet mouse, and bought a pretty little white female at a pet store. Having also been turned on to a little bit of mythology, I somehow or other chose the name "Frigga", which Wiki says is an anglicized form of Frigg.

And to keep to the topic at hand, this would have been just a year or so before I discovered West Side Story (via the film) which, for all practical purposes, changed my life.

I still hear the line "I'm a sawed-off Ed McMahon" every time I listen to "Demolition Man" by The Police.

Re West Side Story - I remember I was playing the soundtrack really loud - listening to Gee, Officer Krupke. When it got to the song's final line, my father came running in the room, frothing at the mouth, convinced he'd just heard the "F" word on an LP. He was going to actually take the LP away from me and refuse to let me hear it. I said, "What are you talking about? It's "Krup you" - he made me play it again - twice - then he knew how ridiculous he'd been.

As to this other trollish nonsense, how many here actually pulled out the Blu-ray to check it out - I think that was kind of the point, maybe :)

I remember when i watched Open Season i had to go back to a scene because i thought bad language was being used, turns out it wasn't but it sounded like it was, our ears can easily play tricks on us and my hearing isn't as good as it used to be.

I know the lyrics are "revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night", but every time I hear "Blinded By the Light" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band, I swear the lyrics are "wrapped up like a douche, another rubber in the night".

    ...and who can forget:

"little early burly gave my anus curly-whirly"

That was too weird to even try to visualize.

If you ever get a chance, look out for Bruce Springsteen on VH1 Storytellers talking about that song and his thoughts on Manfred Mann's cover of it. I don't remember exactly what he said, but I remember laughing my ass off.. something to the effect of, "I thought I was writing a song about cars, but it turns out to have been about a feminine hygene product."

I know people don't like reality, because fantasy is so much more fun and comforting and exciting. But if that "cs" word were in WSS to begin with, it wouldn't have taken 52.5 years for someone to discover it.

There's a word for a word or phrase that's misheard: mondegreen. Read the Wikipedia article on "Mondegreen"; it's really interesting.
