Not true. There is a 4 disc version in Europe.

When we lose out on a special feature disc like this, or a documentary gets cut, as it did on this set, it makes me wonder whether it's just being saved for the eventual blu-ray edition of the film.

More and more these days I wonder if I should wait on Blu-Ray rather than the second release of a catalog title.

My BB ad from the Dallas Morning News also has no mention of the $12.99 price for either TWoO or Rize, just the $16.99 price for both.

Alias: Season Four
Looney Tunes: Gold Collection Volume Three
Tales From The Crypt: Season Two
Titanic (which I was fortunate to find early already)
Wizard Of Oz (the $12 pricetag and the fact that I wouldn't be that interested in Disc Three's contents to spend $20 more convinced me)

And if I'm feeling stupid, I'll pick up House Of Wax. :)

The most important question is this: [rant]which ending[/rant] of The Battle of Britain is incorporated? The one with the dull plodding Walton score, with the wrong Churchill quote "the end of the beginning" (actually referring to the battle in North Africa in 1943)? Or the one with the stirring march by Goodwin, with the correct Churchill quote "never in the field of human conflict...."?

MGM reached into their archives and pulled out the first version by mistake for the previous US release. :rolleyes:The UK release, as well as the laser disc, had the correct second version. I hope they did it right this time around.

I did see annoucements that said there would be separate 2-disc and 3-disc versions as well. Not sure what happened.

Ok I feel stupid. I searched on Amazon.com for the Titanic special edition and after looking at a larger version of the cover of Titanic it says at the bottom that it is the 3 disc set. I guess there isn't a two disc version for the release like with Wizard of Oz.

Dennis: I thought THAT was the whole reason behind the Region 1 SE. Is there still a question that this new edition might use the wrong ending?!?!

I've had a number of opportunities to pull the trigger on the first release..but didn't because of the ending. I've been really looking forward to seeing this film.

EDIT** I can't find a review of the R1 SE anywhere. Wonder which reviewer might have it here on the HTF?

Tabetha,

There is only a 3 disk version at least in the US. there is a 4 disk set in Europe. Check out the titanic review thread to get some more info on that.

My Best Buy ad (Southern California) does show something different:

The Wizard of Oz (2 Disc)
RIZE

Reward Zone Program Member Price - $14.99 (price shown on "yellow tag" on each DVD cover artwork)
Price for nonmembers - $16.99 (price shown footnoted for each DVD)

I'm hoping that my local Wal-Mart picks-up the RZ pricing when they price their new releases.

Same here. It used to be almost automatic for me on movies I liked, but now I have to consider it a significant improvement for me to buy again.

Can someone post me their sale CD's this week and price if it's not going to consume your time? there's a few coming out this week I'm interested in
