I got a 24 and I just turned 40 and listen to 80's music
just draw a blank on lyrics when I see them without hearing the music

You've got to get in the correct mindset. Think about the music you remember, then recall all of the one-hit wonders and the videos, etc. You've got to "back in tiiime!" ;)

Ya, I suppose but you get a bonus if you were born later and a penalty if you were before in the quesion that basically asks your age. So no excuse! :D

As a child of the 80s (now 34) I am ashamed I didn't do better...:b

I can't believe I missed bits from songs like Africa and Sweet Child O'Mine
which are favourites of mine! Would you believe I actually thought the latter was from a Duran Duran song and tried humming "Hungry Like The Wolf" to see if it got to matching lyrics, which of course it didnt'...

On the other hand, awarding 10 points for knowing that in Hotel California the Eagles sang about "sweet smell of colitas"
was an unexpected BIG bonus :D

Were Roxette's "Lay a whisper on my pillow Leave the winter on the ground"
(5 points) and Human League's "You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar "
(4 points) really as obscure as they made it out to be? Seemed fairly straightforward to any teen of the 80s if you ask me.

I think the max socre is 175. I wouldn't say 90 is bad; you probably had more exposure to the early 80s stuff (80 and 81), where I'm weakest. The huge 10 pt bonus for that was unexpected...seems the quiz plays on words that are mumbled through or not exactly known. The second example you have there Yee-Ming, is one that I wasn't sure of for awhile.

I got a 58.25, but it said I was docked 30% for being a yuppie and sticking his generation whith a boatload for cultural horrors, but I was born in 1977.

I got some wrong on typos and I'm embarrassed that I couldn't figure out about 15 of them. Hell, I listen to the 80s station all the time when I'm in my car.

Actually, JohnT, I'd say my knowledge of 1980 and 81 is somewhat sketchy. I only started really listening to music in 1983/4, was really into it from then until probably about 1987/8, when I entered university it tapered off a bit, and today I really can't be arsed about new stuff...

Why wasn't there a question like:

"Shake up the picture, the ____ ____ "

Now THAT was something seriously 80s-surreal... :D

Answer:
"lizard mixture", from Duran's "Union of the Snake"

I think I got around 60, but the speling(:)) mistakes cost me.

Damn I lost 10 on the eagles alone!

I really can't believe some of the ones I missed (considering the 80's comprise the ages 8-17 for me).

Just finished. Here's what it told me:

"You were probably working in a bank in the 80's. 15% handicap on the Gen Xers.

"5 point bonus for telling me where you saw this. Thanks!

"Final Score: 98.725"

Pop Junkie!

Not too shabby, since I was born in '66 and was a teen during the 80's. :D

I knew every song on there, and I got a 30. However, after the fourth question, the only lyric that I could remember was:

Why can't I find a woman like that?
Oh, I wish I had Jesse's girl.

I will be useless now for the rest of the day, because of that stupid song.
